2nd TEST - England v Sri Lanka

Why the fuck have Sky not confirmed to the viewer whether it was a no-ball or not? Doesn't make a difference to the result but would like to know whether England should have reviewed.

Well that should be Cook's last series as captain. Position is pretty untenable now. If he keeps it it can only be because they think there is no-one else
There is no one else. The lack of leaders in this England team is one of the reasons we're spineless.

He can't get in the side though unless you have him in as a 81 Brearley type choice.

I think Cooks a class player and his form will come back - maybe the captaincy is a bit much for him but I don't see anyone else capable of replacing him

When ?

I said prior to this series that there should be a place for Morgan. It's not going to happen but if it was up to me, and it should be, Morgan would get the nod

Root? Smith got the captaincy at a young age for SA. Apparently Bell's not suited to captaincy. Wouldn't fancy Broad, Prior or Anderson for the Job.

Was gutted at the time, but great test match.

We lost this game with the way we bowled at them in the second innings, although Cook was absolutely useless when Matthews was batting, he can't be blamed for the way Anderson and Broad bowled can he? Far far too short, all you have to do at Headingly is pitch it up, and keep pitching it up, you don't even have to be that quick.

Cook should be allowed the India series to find his form as batsman and captain. The lack of obvious candidates will keep him in the job, I would like to see us find a place for Stokes. He has the balls and the guts that the likes of Flintoff and Botham had. Straight swap for Jordan?

Superb that from Moeen Ali, hope he gets picked v India...

Great passion from the Sri Lankans at the end too...
Ali was class, Stokes should walk back into the team though (just took 10 wickets and scored 60+ runs). I presume they'll leave out Jordan, as Broad looks like he is untouchable.

I'd love us to give Tymal Mills or another of the really fast upcoming bowlers a go, bit of the X-Factor.

exactly this had to go to work at 4pm so was constantly checking my phone at cricinfo, can you believe my internet went dead with 2 balls left at 249-9, started to celebrate The team creating history batting out a 5th day 5 down, switched it on and off and stared in disbelief when cricinfo had it 249 on my app (instant reaction wheres the 9 gone, why would they get rid of the 9 just cos the match is over), anar i was just being daft but i just didnt want to belief it at the time. As the above poster said, gutted at the time but after an hour or two just came to appreciate what was an amazing test match and series overall and just wish there was a third one between these evenly matched teams. Unless changes are made (It's Moores' so more chance in pigs flying) we will get beaten easily by the Indians.

I BLOODY LOVE TEST CRICKET!

I was thinking that due to Broad's obvious injury problems i'd swap him in and out for Jordan depending on the test venue. Notts, Lords, Oval- Broad, Edge? Old Trafford-Jordan
Stokes needs to be in the team at 7, Ali has to play now and be entrusted to do the full time spinners role this summer at least. Buttler needs to be given a chance with the gloves as every team is just going to bomb prior now, what chance does he have against the Aussies next year if he can't stand up to piddly 80mph sri lankans.

I haven't been impressed with Jordan as a front line bowler myself, I think he is a canny cricketer but seems a one day player at the minute, although happy to be proved wrong. He will get bet with time. Stokes should play ahead of him, but with Jimmy and Broad looking knackered it will be a case of see who is ready to go. They have picked a good one in Plunkett now, he has to play this summer, as if we are going without a spinner we need variation.

Question for people out there, when Swann was recalled how was he doing in the county championship? We he just a consistent performer or was he tearing through teams? Memory is a bit hazy but it took him a bit in the England team before he really became world class.

Only ask because we seem obsessed with finding a very young spinner with potential, just wondering if there is maybe a more experienced bloke who could come in, who we have overlooked. In sport people get obsessed with always looking 2 years down in the future, Australia were the same, then they finally clicked and decided to pick their best available players.

Is Broad injured? What's he done now.........?
