It's not uncommon for me to see blokes in Newcastle shirts around Sunderland city centre, which I think reflects the arrogance of the club, it's a psychological trait that they don't need to respect "territorial boundaries". Now we're in league one we can ultimately expect to see this thing happening a lot more I reckon.

I literally just walked past a lad in a Sunderland top on Northumberland street (outside Boots) and its very very common for me to see Sunderland tops at work in the Metrocentre. What about our fans?

I think you can discount the Metrocentre, but anyone walking round Newcastle with a Sunderland top on is asking for trouble.

Seen it happen a fair few times in my time here. Never seen any trouble to anyone wearing Sunderland stuff, including myself on occasion (not a shirt but a hoodie or a scarf). But then the city centre is very student-y, I suspect if you went to Byker or something it would be a different story.

I feel, rightly or wrongly, that your average person isn't going to get angry over football "territory" if the person isn't being deliberately provocative, its only sport after all...

I can say that I've had abuse for it even in mixed areas like shields.

I would disagree.
They might be asking for a visit from the fashion police, but I would absolutely expect someone to be able to walk down Northumberland street with a Sunderland shirt on, and to be able to do so trouble free.

It happens tother way round too. I've seen red and white top in Newcastle.

Seen loads of red and white tops in the toon over the years.
Nobody bothers the folk wearing them, you lot get rabid over the sight of a toon top.
