I would disagree.
They might be asking for a visit from the fashion police, but I would absolutely expect someone to be able to walk down Northumberland street with a Sunderland shirt on, and to be able to do so trouble free.
Your expectations aren't necessarily the same as the next person though.

My expectations are based on the fact that I have often seen people walking around Newcastle in Sunderland shirts or hats and have never seen anyone attacking them or looking like they are about to.
 
It's not uncommon for me to see blokes in Newcastle shirts around Sunderland city centre, which I think reflects the arrogance of the club, it's a psychological trait that they don't need to respect "territorial boundaries". Now we're in league one we can ultimately expect to see this thing happening a lot more I reckon.

I studied in Sunderland during the 15 point season and the Barcode numbers in town definitely increased. In contrast I was back home for a few months shortly after we relegated them and I don't recall seeing any Mag tops around Sunderland.

You sounded so plausible and then you go and ruin it claiming you studied! Unless you meant studying the form I don't believe you.
