Yes, that was the season Sunderland lost an FA Cup semi-final and had been in a chance of the double, top of the league in February, but the players, like most in the game in that era, were more interested in Wembley.
Sunderland finished fourth, level on points with two teams above and four points behind champions Chelsea.
