How that free kick didn't go in was miraculous. Some great players on display. That team was class, and they seemed to actually care about the result.
Tin hat on. I'd have killed to have Solano in our team.
Similar for me, but in reverse.Still gutted to have not been there. I was 14 and went to most away games that season, but broke my collarbone the day before and couldn't go. Made my first trip to SJP the year after, and another few times after that, the last time being the 5-1. Then moved abroad and missed all the wins there since!
Previous season mate, undercover for this one. Nearly as good but the soaken wet one just tips it for me. Felt very privileged to be at both. Right next door to the ***** for the 2nd one, the state of their faces at full time, hilarious. From that to this, breaks ya f***ing heart. Was at S.J.P watching It,have never been as wet it all my life .Absolute bliss.
When the coaches were escorted back to the S.O.L we had a standing ovation
From The Sunderland fans who had been watching at the beam back.
We got blessed with a brick through the window on the way back, no one gave a fuck. Winning was great, the sad little shites could do what they wanted it didn't matter, high as a kite.superb day 18/11/2000. was in the back row end seats near the home fans, and the coppers next to us were all sunderland fans, fair to say they looked after us. after the game, all the buses had gone, and we suddenly realised our bus was fucked. here we are bus full of sunderland fans, outside a pub full of raging Newcastle fans, kept back by a police horse blocking the door entrance. anyway we ended up getting a police escort through the city with the team bus. minding our own business, out of nowhere this absolute clapped out banger of a car (mini metro type), making horn noises... anyway some bloke with sunderland flags and scarfs driving through the middle of Newcastle, obviously enjoying himself, so funny yet very surreal to see. one of the best days out ever.
Reason for the downfall of that team, loved playing for us.Hutch, another that left too soon
Didn't he claim he was promised a pay rise if we did well or something ??Hutch, another that left too soon
Julio's step over, it was an awesome goal on any level, never mind the occasion. Bet Given still dreams about getting to it, got about as close as Burridge did to Marco's in the play offs on another wonderful night through there.Rae's thru ball, Grays lightning quick sprint down the left and perfect cross, and SNQs inch perfect header. What a goal.
Micky Grays whoop and Hutch's "gerrin"
I thought he pushed for a move? Could be wrongDidn't he claim he was promised a pay rise if we did well or something ??
There was some disagreement over money iirc or was he just tapped up?
