.... as Safc fight back from conceding early to Gary Speed (rip) to win 2-1 with Hutch and SNQ netting.

The best bit though was Shearer flunking the chance to equalise late on from the penalty spot as Tommy pulled off a great save.

What a game, what a result and what a day

So glad to have been there and witnessed it first hand eh @Kid Galahad

A superb little jaunt north marra

Sat amongst the rabid gravy guzzlers not far behind out dugout and when Tommy saved the pen sat with my head in hands rocking and screaming to myself to be consoled by some patting me on back saying 'anar mate the f***ing bastards' !!! Had to leave with 2 mins to go because I was about to explode ! Heard our lads on final whistle, went back to car and blasted car horn all the way through Newcastle with scarf out of window ! Silly Sod ! 😊

There was a time where England qualified for sod all. On this day 38 years ago, we qualified for a World Cup for the first time in 20 years (66 and 70 we were exempt from qualifying).

In 1981, despite being beaten by Romania, Switzerland and Norway in our qualifying group, we somehow only needed a draw at home to Hungary to sneak through. We just about managed to scrape into Spain '82 on a nervy Wembley night.

What a day. Was in London for it, the embryonic SMB was a terrific site to be on that day. Went to a mate's housewarming party that night and sure enough a Typical Mag was there. I remember the misery in his voice when he said "Don't want to talk about it mate" so clearly :D

Ah what a day my 1st away derby, nearly died at the top of the stairs haha, fought my way through limbs to find my dad n hugged him for what felt like ages at the final whistle, celebrated that night with a kebab meat pizza with garlic sauce, my dad sent Xmas cards out that year to all the mags we know saying Merry Xmas 2-1 and all haha
Are u Prince Andrew?

Was at S.J.P watching It,have never been as wet it all my life .Absolute bliss.
When the coaches were escorted back to the S.O.L we had a standing ovation
From The Sunderland fans who had been watching at the beam back.
