18th January Stats

I was surprised to find out yesterday that although South Africa is well through its Omicron wave deaths there still aren't falling. Bit of a concern TBO if we follow the same pattern.

More deaths than any day for 11 months

Amazing

Deaths in England and Wales were 7.8 per cent under five-year average for week ending Jan 7, ONS data show

Amazing news when we have millions and millions with this virus.

Amazing news.
438 deaths :eek:encouraging” “its over”
It was over in July for some of us.

'Wasting your time, mate. As you say, lots of people dying and most posts are: "the greens". 'Been reading these threads over the last few days and there's just no point in commenting when you look at most of the posts. The same people have been saying it's more or less over since June. They were posting models, graphs and all sorts to demonstrate this supposed situation. When it was pointed out there are so many uncertainties, which modellers accepted and stated in footnotes, it just fell on deaf ears.

'Anyone can look back through the threads and most of these on this thread were claiming we'll have very few deaths by the time we get to November and onwards because they saw a curved line on some graph somewhere. You could have 2,000 people losing their lives in a day and it wouldn't matter: "the greens, it's over, fuck it, full life". It will be over eventually but it should be pretty clear that the vast majority who post on these threads don't have the first clue what they're talking about and that's because they're never really been interested enough to do some reading and instead just want to use these topics to argue with strangers on a message board. The most bizarre thing is they don't give a fuck that it's obvious they don't know what they're talking about, they just keep repeating the mantra: "vaccines, greens, it's over, fuck it, full life". 'Easily the most farcical set of threads I've ever read on any message board, you'd think they're on a wind up given how ridiculous most of the posts are and have been over the course of more than a year.

Deaths last week are 7.5% below 5 year average. What happened to all your predictions for the elderly and vulnerable?

It has been a lot of that, and certain people branded "doomsters or death mongers etc" if they dared say otherwise.

Some of the behaviour has been shameful.

That said I honestly believe we are getting out the end of this thing now, fingers crossed.

It’s like a delusion. I’m all for being optimistic but deaths are at a 11 month high and people are actively gushing. It’s bezerk.
No one has said it's over before you posted.
Sound 👍

Shouldn’t you be celebrating a very low death rate whilst we are knee deep in Omicron cases?
7.5% less people died last week than the average. Focus on that. It is frankly astonishing and all thanks to an incredible vaccination programme.
That wasn’t before you posted was it? Given Harry quoted your post it seems unlikely.
I’ve said it was over in July. We have been back to normal and thankfully for people in England the restrictions were negligible coming up to Christmas.
