Lot's live outside the City too. Washington, Houghton/Hetton lots live there, Neither Sunderland nor Durham are in walking distance never mind the Consett/Bishop/Seaham/Shields places.

As far as Buses go, CLS is a bit of a hub too, tho not sure if there's a direct bus from Seaham, Bish. (edit, there is a direct bus from Bish to CLS. Need a change from Seaham to CLS tho)

I get that aye, but obviously there are more people living in cities than towns and villages, I don't think it is a coincidence that the larger crowds are at games where the grounds are near to a big city like

They won't be mythical. There'll be an extra million or two watching on TV versus any cricket in this country since 2005.

It's almost impossible for this competition to have less people watching it.
i don't doubt that, but when the new fans watch and their kids say can we see it live at the ground, it's denied for whole areas of the country.

that's my point, the eight selected grounds already get near full houses already

the other ten could have gained considerably from potential new members seeing this on tv and then going to their local ground

How are these fans any different from potential fans who would watch the T20 Blast if it was free to air?

They aren't, but that wasn't my argument (and I don't disagree with the point you're making).

There was next to no kick off on here about the Giles Clarke ECB which strangled cricket, but this one is at least trying to trade off some TV cash for exposure. Got laughed at up the thread for saying that but it's clearly the case, plus All Stars is an excellent initiative.

And herein lies the point. This initiative is nothing whatsoever to do with "the good of the game", it's a power grab. The point about mythical fans is a good one because this whole thing based around attracting new fans, but in reality the fans are already there if they'd just pull their finger out of their arse.

We have the ECB proposing a number of new initiatives to try and broaden the appeal of the game, the self same initiatives that people have been proposing for years but the ECB have refused to implement. That's blackmailing the future of the sport and it's utterly corrupt on every single level.

It really is my wish that the Counties get themselves organised on this, work together and break away from the ECB. IMO it's the only way to protect the future of the game from these ECB charlatans.

but not for the people who live in the city, that's the point, get it in walking distance of paying customers.

I drive to the riverside often and am happy to do so for county cricket and the occasional 50 over, although I would much rather be able to drink. I don't bother for t20
Have they got a decent ale on at CLS this season? Or is it still that GK IPA shite?

greene king sponsors boards still up iirc so I imagine still same old shite. I only popped into the members on Saturday to see what bait was on, didn'tget as far as the bar as I was driving. that was the plan for sunday but... all the best laid plans and that

basically what this is, is an attempt to trade off people in the ground for people in their armchairs.

'for the good of the game' or to swap the counties getting gate money for ftecb getting broadcasters money? well i'll let you decide.
