Jimmy Dunne



He's being played for his height by the looks of it.

Haven't seen enough of him to judge but we haven't lost with him in the team and I trust JR to pick the best 11. He certainly isn't a stand-out liability imo.

Think you're being a bit unfair on Flanners, mate. He's had th odd Gaffe, but on the whole, he's been our standout centre half, by a long way, IMHO:cool:
 
I don’t think any of our defenders are perfect. Dunne is easily the best in the air, and given the amount of goals we have conceded from set pieces I don’t mind him playing. He’s much better without the ball than with, needs to just play it simple.
 
All our centre halves have flaws. Flanagan and Baldwin ironed some of them out playing regularly but were far from perfect. I think Loovens being so obviously finished despite doing okay last season has probably caught us out- he was clearly intended to be the main man to steady the defence but he can barely move.
I think Dunne could still be good but we're running out of games for him to develop a partnership- Ross needs to decide on the two and play them consistently.
 
I think the lad is fine with anything in front of him and he’s fine in the air.
His problem is if he gets turned or if anything gets played in behind him. He struggles massively and hasn’t got the pace to get himself out of trouble.
Experience will help him to negate some of the issues but at the moment he is far from the finished article, which is probably why he’s on loan at a League 1 club.
