Essex is rife with it, hence why Reece Topley (famous dad) got a run in the first team at 17

Only one, hardly rife.
Off the top of my head I cant recall, other than Muchall, anyone whose father played the county circuit up here that is in the current squad

I'm almost certain I said it was a poor day for Durham? Can someone confirm this please - post above?

I'm not sure what the lad means DCCC wise but I think its pretty well known that a lot of cricket players have had some association with the public schools system. Extends as far as the staff as well. It also seems to help if your Father played on the county circuit.

I think that a lot of back scratching goes on.

There has been a few lads who could have made the grade CC wise but their face didnt fit so they didnt make it.

1) Indeed they do, or indeed any school with a proper cricket programme. Stands to reason.

2) Like who?

Very true, they are hardly going to pick someone from a skanky state school that only offers 4 hours of sports per week, playing on a shit heap when they can pick someone from say Durham School or RGS who have a dedicate cricket ground and top class coach

just using Reece as an example, trust me it is rife throughout the Essex age groups

Onions, Collingwood and Harmison all went to comps. I'm guessing Borthwick, Mustard and a fair few of the other local lads did too.

Or only playing the odd game, which is the experience of most Comps.

And were all scouted through local clubs rather than schools, as was Killer.
