Considering he only ever stood at slip, and his run up was about 5 walked steps, it wouldnt surprise me if he could still more than cut it at test level.

His batting and slip catching will obviously wane but totally agree re his bowling.

too much hardwork Test cricket for a bloke of his age. Went out at the top and there is no point in looking past your best and then having aches and pains as well and the way the aussies are nothing to show for it. He hasn't exactly looked after himself over the years either and will have a good few pains in his wrist particually with the operations he's had on it.

the runup isn't his problem but he still has to put alot of effort in to bowl 65mph and the effort he has to put into his wrist action too. Yes its not as hard as bowling fast but 20overs of his bowling is hardwork. He was often heard grunting due to the effort put in not so easy for him now.

He'd be less effective than he was as he a has lost some of his turn and zip and cannot bowl some of the variations any more because of his wrist and shoulder injuries/operations.

I suppose if you were happy to have a spinner bowling max of 10 overs in a day then, yes.

He'd still do a better job in 10 overs than any of them planks they had bowling spin for them in the Ashes would in 30 overs.

Wasn't necessarily saying you wouldn't have him, just that the other 80 overs a day would have to be bowled by your other bowlers. Would have to pick 4 other frontline bowlers, and probably a spinner aongst them.

Not sure Australia could get away with it ... even with Watson.

Awesome bowler but wouldn't wanna see him return, think he could still comeback and haunt us somewhere down the line. Just let him crack on with his betting and hair ads!

he'd be better than most still but not up to his best. Just look at Murali, he's looked a shadow of his former self the last couple of years.
