Onions is expected to play in Thursday's 50 over game between the 2nd's and the Uni. I think they hope he will be ready for Championship action against Sussex.

I imagine Harmy and Thorp are being kept in cotton wool for Friday :)

I imagine too, but why....? How many times have we come to the conclusion that Harmy needs plenty of overs to get up temperature?

were you not saying the same about Bell after the first test in SA but clamouring for him to be dropped......is it one rule for Bell and one rule for your mates ;)

Absolutely

To be honest the same stands with Stoneman, at some stage he will have to score big runs more consistently. Its as clear as day he can play - hopefully this year will be a big breakthrough season for him. This time last year lots of Yorks fans were saying the same thing about Lyth and he suddenly started getting massive scores.

If I had a pound.....

will this still be trotted out in 2020

In fairness it was also your opinion on Stoneman last year  Obviously I would love him to do the business but if he had been released he could have had no complaints.

Looks good the limited number of times I have seen him but does the hard work then gets out

In a nutshell. Funnily enough as a kid playing first team cricket from 14-18 he looked mentally very strong, never threw his wicket away but didnt really look as if he had the range of shots to make it. Now he times the ball beautifully, plays most shots, looks great at times and then just chucks it away.

Aye  I know it seems harsh criticising him when hes batted well and got the team of to a decent start but you always get your share of failures against the new ball so you have to really make it count when you get starts. He did exactly the same last year against hants - batted very well got a start then tried to slog sweep your mate and got bowled.
