Agree about the faults in mine now you have pointed them out. It was a kind of snap it while you can type of picture as the cat would have no doubt buggered off if I had faffed around too long  In my infancy with a DSLR so any feedback is much appreciated ;)
I realised and tried to give you some quick pointers. I said I liked the eye of the cat, and I think it is on an intersecting third, so perfectly positioned.:)

As I said this month's competition isn't about interpretation, it is about entering a photograph that shows the use of the ROT. The object of his photograph is bang in the centre. I did say it was a very good photo, but I just felt it didn't meet the challenge set, and I have tried to judge each photo on the same criteria. :)

I'd have to entirely disagree of course

He only drew attention to it with the title for me. Take that away and you probably wouldn't have noticed it was him...

It enhances the shot, yes, but in most photos the placement of the 'object' has little to do with the theme

Do you want to know the best of it? I didn't even mean it to be the title of the image - I just put it on as, '....that's my entry like..' that'll learn me. :) Thanks for the votes lads.. going to have a think about mine now.

Clyde 1 point
a) 1
b) 0
c) 0 - The title doesn't work though I have let that effect my judgement. Sorry a weak
double exposure (type) photograph.

are titles really that important? i wanna take great photos and not worry about what to name them.
it's also a single shot, not a double exposed shot.

Titles aren't always that important, it's a debatable point. I didn't take your title into account. But say, for eg, IainsBaitbox (sp?), if he'd called his Pink Sofa's I might have voted it for it as the pink sofas are on a third, but he named it something like "That's Me" which alters the context a lot. I agree about wanting to take good photographs and not worry about what to call them, but if you do name a photo you have to expect it may be taken into consideration.

I knew you'd pick me up for calling your photo double exposed, that is why I put (type) in. It looks similar to a film double exposure where you have to either recog the film or not have it wind on, therefore making a double exposure.

So how did you take your picture if it was just a single shot?

This is kind of suggesting to me that titles should be banned

I think I mentioned this on the discussion thread - I reckon that some of the titles are distracting from the images a little bit. Some of them are getting firmly in to the cheese territory (and I've been guilty of it myself). I absolutely hate giving my photographs a title and I think I'm not going to bother in the future, unless the photograph instantly evokes a mood or an idea that I'm feeling. The only reason I offered a title this month was to provide context and let you all know where the location was.

Are you IansBaitBox too?

Or do you just think Pink Sofas is a bad title?

Look at the photo, aren't they pink sofas along the top horizonatal third?

Am I being whooshed, is it late, have I lost the plot -:oops::confused:

Just think that you didn't vote for him because of a title is a little unfortunate :)

Like Clyde I didn't realise titles were so important

No, when I first saw the photograph, (Iain's). I thought it was an excellent photograph, I then thought it doesn't meet the ROT. It has nine separate interest features rather than the interest being along the horizontal and vertical thirds. I then noticed the man in the centre, and didn't take much notice. Then I noticed the title, which focused my attention on the man in the middle. So the picture failed at all stages for ROT. I can't see why there is so much bother about me not voting for it? I gave my reasons, and I'm not the only one who thought what I did. You could say why didn't I vote for farrahlad's for example. He nearly did get a vote, but if you vote for too many it weakens the vote, so I voted for three.

You said you liked mine but couldn't be bothered to vote, so I lost a vote to a lazy arse! Are you sure you're not Iain?

It's alright, I didn't vote for Mainze because he spelled Gibraltar wrong ;)

Are you sure you're not Iain?

If I was I'd be a very good photographer

I voted for the three I thought were the best examples of ROT. Which is what we were asked to do.

The winner of the month doesn't necessarily have to be the best photographer per se. Andy Martin is a professional photographer (read this months Advanced Professional Photographer magazine iirc), he has been beaten a couple of times in the comp, doesn't make me a better photographer than him though (even if I go round telling me mam that I beat him in the December comp! :p). That is what is fun though, meeting the challenge set.

Are you Iain's mate then?:) He's got lots of votes already without you campaigning on his behalf!

I know

Don't think I ever voted for Andy, but deffo voted for you a couple of times peachy

Peachbum, I you are engaged in a debate with a professional photographer there. Cheers for the comments on my photo and yes the building on the left does lean a bit.

That really should make not a jot of difference like

So how did you take your picture if it was just a single shot?

it was took in broad daylight and is an 80 odd second exposure, thats why the sea is also smoothed out and clouds have movement in them and i just stood in the frame for around 30 seconds, it was took with a $&&^$%&^*(()*)**^^^ filter
:)

Nope never met him. I know a few on here, though! Just chuffed that only my second entry here has provoked such a good debate. I've engaged with online photo challenges before, even organised one - but the quality of debate here is second to none.
