:lol::lol:

i never take any interest in the post ashes one dayers.

think its a disgrace personally that they bother, nobody ever gives a hoot, and especially after such a historic win for our lot they should have been brought back together and paraded around like the heroes they showed themselves to be.

cant wait for durham to start up again, we've got our first games planned already.. coming up for a week in april and catching 2 safc home games, 2 pro 40s and a championship game, 6 days of safc/dccc in 7 days, good times
quality stuff this

when the season starts, we shall have the usual thread during games and hopefully marty emmerson will be commentating and read out emails, with smb ccc and forum mentions

they did home games last season and sometimes marty emmerson, joined commentators from other bbc local stations.

he read a stack of emails from myself and the other lads on the forum before and iirc he also posted on here, during the actual season

BBC Newcastle dropped cricket from their covered sports when they made a load of cuts at the start of last year. They couldn't care less, sadly. Most successful NE team in recent years and can't get coverage on mainstream radio.

i'm sure one of the channel 9 commentators said the other night that out of the last 4 ashes winning teams they had all had lost the corresponding one day series..

Always been the same for me, test cricket IS international cricket. The only thing I can remember from the 2007 World Cup is Freddie getting pissed. Yet I can vividly recall David Steele standing up to Lilllee and Thompson and England being denied a drawn Ashes in '75 by a dug up pitch.

did george davis ever get freed?

I still peruse, but I'm not all that knowledgable about domestic matters, and haven't been able to watch any of the ODI's for work reasons mainly, so haven't been posting.

..it's finished maybe ? Started a few ODI threads recently but nobody seems to be arsed.
i think its the time zone thing

3am starts.

the world cup should see some better threads, with games starting at 9am

i also think the majority of regulars are still around posting, but rentaghost and eseex boy, are having a breather over the anderson debate

never been a fan of the ODI format.

would rather watch/talk about a test that didint involve England than discuss an England ODI.

the cricket board is like the SOL on match days

half empty in average games and full to the rafters for the big ones

you were like myself at the away derby at SJP (f***ing off at half time) ;)

9am starts are canny, is that for the day/night games ?

did george davis ever get freed?

Yes, in '78. By '79 he was back inside, caught red-handed robbing a branch of the Bank of Cyprus somewhere in North London. His plea of innocent was somewhat undermined by a News At Ten film crew coincidentally being in the area covering another story when he and his fellow masterminds struck.

I used to really enjoy one day cricket when it was the B&H Cup, NatWest Trophy, and the Sunday League. Different match lengths, different tactics and that. And the ODI's used to be just best of three which made it much more competitive and watchable.

Nowadays, though, it seems to be just a way of filling up empty space of a Sky Sports schedule and there's way too many ODI's. I suppose the money and crowds flooding into the one-day game suggests I'm just an old stick in the mud and out of touch with the modern game but that's how it is. :-(
