Only bowler to take wickets in their second innings. Match figures of 5/85
brilliant stuff. bit like Jimmy in test cricket, takes wickets in dead rubbers against poor sides, when the pressure is cranked up, he goes missing.

Didn't stop Cook and Strauss getting hundreds...
So where are we on the thread started off by essex boy? Game one anderson bowls superbly economically and in the second game he takes 5/80 all top 6 batsman. Move on to game 3

21 overs 2/40 at present at 1.9 an over. Good bowler Jimmy.
rain stopped play. When the track is doing a bit and there is moisture about Jimmy will come into his own. Undeniable. However, as per Michael Holding in the Daily Mail this week, can Jimmy take wickets on flat wickets?? NO
I'm sorry like but thats bollocks. Todays play was played almost all under bright blue skies on a flat pitch. The one opportunity he had to bowl in good conditions and the players were whisked off. For every time Anderson has performed well, and there have been plenty this year you have dismissed it with the immortal 'Just wait til he bowls at Brisbane' and 0/100 stuff. You have stuck your whole reputation on Anderson and the Brisbane test.
You have no class whatsoever - everyone is entitled to a point of view but the better posters on here can hold their hand up, laugh at themselves at times and take it on the chin.
Anderson was excellent today.
there has been rain in Brisbane leading up to the test. the ball is doing more than usual due to this and its not a typical Brisbane wicket....as per all media outlets
when you mean admit your wrong you mean like your Prior out, Bell out posts amongst others
Its not a Brisbane wicket in terms of pace but its certainly flat. Jimmy hasnt got his figures with the ball seaming around - he got then by bowling tightly, building pressure and cutting out the 4 balls he used to dish up too often in the past - hes an improved bowler.
In terms of me admitting i'm wrong I do often enough. The nature of the sport is that you are bound to be proved wrong on occasion because players have it in their power to improve. With Bell I have been more than happy to be proved wrong and said so many times. I would have got rid of him because he had proven over a long enough period of time to be mentally deficient. The selectors and Essex Boy were bang on.
I'll always stand by the Prior argument. In WI it was the worst display of keeping I have ever seen and i think he may have broken the world record on byes conceded - he was a shambles. I said if Prior didnt improve his keeping he would have to go no matter how decent his batting was. Prior to his credit did exactly that.
With regards to Anderson you have been humiliated you put all your cards in one basket about his first morning at Brisbane and he came up with the goods.
Anderson has done well in Brisbane in helpful conditions.
Every media outlet is reporting the ball was swinging around first day and second day there was seam movement. Thats not my own personal opinion but every tom dick and harry who has played the game
take you rose tinted specs off![]()
every tom, dick and harry have been seen its a flat track which batsmen SHOULD cash in on. its done a little bit on occasions but nothing in the slightest to say they are playing in 'helpful conditions'.
as for it swinging on day 1. when? i watched almost all of it and cant recall any great swing at any point. (i know it was the aussies bowling but still).
