However you will know Sunderland fans will go to great lengths to watch a match and I'm really suprised you think there's anything wrong with taking kids in the wrong end if you can't get tickets. I've been to loads of games when we've had at least 100+ sometimes 1000+ in the wrong end, not to cause bother, just to watch games. IMHO nowt wrong with it at all

I don't think there's owt wrong with it at all mate.

I was only winding the lad up 'cos he'd come on here attacking folk for no reason. I was in the same side as he was with 3 of my sons and a brother, we'd scammed the tickets from Luton with a cock&bull story.

Even the lowest hooligan wouldn't deliberately attack an 8 year old but, as he admitted, you can easily be caught up in trouble in that kind of situation.

Luton were going into administration and being relegated so their fans weren't happy but we were in party mood, not a good mix. Winning 5-0 didn't help their mood and we were challenged by some Luton Migs under the stand at half time. We laughed them off, as we're all big lads and handy, but some people might not have been so lucky.

Mint day all the same like, we ended up with a ticket from Luton that we hadn't paid for. When we went in I handed the bloke 4 tickets and the receipt that looked like a ticket which he accepted them as 5 tickets :lol:

I told the stewards I had to move my car, went outside and gave the ticket to the first Sunderland lad looking for one ........ I walked away and he just stood looking at it 8-)

iirc me mate was on camera fighting that day aswell but in court they produced the wrong video which clearly wasnt him unless he had his tattoos removed

Sounds like a bloke I was talking to over here few seasons ago in pre-season. Carlisle didn't want to know that day btw.
I'm surprised Carlisle hasn't been mentioned more on here. The 1 or 2 'lads' I know reckon it was just the sheer numbers of Sunderland who were up for it that made them a handful. They talk fondly of the cup match at Roker when they had to hide under cars at the garage outside the ground to avoid being lifted!

That game there were a few black lads wondering through our coach park area, after the game. looking for trouble. They soon made haste in different directions with a few lads following a couple of them.

Can't be too many black Huddersfield fans so could very well be the same incident from different viewpoints.

sunderland seemed to take over carlisle ion that friendly a few years ago. hundreds of sunderland lads walking about looking for carlisle. their youth turned up briefly before the game looking for trouble but ran towards the police as soon as anything happened. after the game we came out and were amazed that not a single copper was in sight considering everyone was expecting trouble. some carlisle got a bit confident and were promptly scattered outside the ground and we started walking to the station, the carlisle lads who had ran appeared on the other side of the road chanting at us prompting a few bricks etc to head their way and they were gone again, still no coppers in sight until we reached the station which resembled a bit of a battle ground with sunderland throwing all sorts at the police (which explains why they hadnt been at the ground). some little twat came from nowhere and smacked one of me mates, he only looked about 12 then legged it to join a load of carlisle who then got scattered. next thing we're pushed into the station and pepper sprayed. next stop the swan

The area under the stand was really cramped and, because we knew there were Luton down there looking for Sunderland, we all went to the toilets together.

I backed off, as I always do so I could watch what was happening, and sure enough my lads were approached. One of the Migs said to my middle son, "What are you larfin at."

My son came straight back with, "I'm larfin at you, you cant," in a perfect Cockney accent.
Everyone was laughing and the Luton started to lose it. I'd seen the stewards closing in so I stepped between and told them to leave.

This is the problem, these days, LordRowell.

If it wasn't for the stewards and the cameras my lads would have just sorted it out and I'd have come in from the back as we used to do, worked every time. These days you stand up for yourself and you end up on a ban which I don't want after 4 decades of support.

Luton were asking for it that day.

it was nuts in luton town that day, i split from my mates and met up with a handful of others to get the train back to london, we were in this pub having a beer and a sing song when these two little ***** rats come in threatening the barman with a shot gun. lasted about 10 seconds then everyone was back signing and telling them to fuck off.

Luton must be a vile place to live, it's like the third world.

I went there once when we won about 3 or 4-0 and there was a bit of trouble as Sunderland started to leave ......... the police held some of us in and when we got out there was a fair bit of debris.

I was walking down to the main street and a Shotton lad was walking back up towards the ground looking a bit tense. I asked him what the problem was and he said he'd been jumped and was looking for them.

I asked if he needed help and he said no, opened his sheepskin and showed me a hatchet he'd just been and bought from a hardware store on that main street where the chippies were.

Off he strolled as if he was out walking his dog :lol:

TBH, the only times I have ever had a direct confrontations over football is by fellow Sunderland fans. 1) At a home match a couple seasons back, and 2) In The Chesters. Goes to prove there are arseholes amongst every club, and to be honest, I think of both incidents (unprovoked by me) when I hear the 'best fans in the world' stuff peddled. Ohh well....

The main point of my post. I lived in Sheffield for 5 years and went to a shedload of away games (largely on my own) around the period of 2001 to 2006. I worked with one of the main lads in the BBC at the time and ended up being drafted in for a few games for a Sunday league team which was around half BBC or ex-BBC. I ended up playing a season and a half for them actually. Anyways, talk invevitably got round to firms and stuff. I confess I have never knowingly even drank or know any of Seaburn, but their points from the outside chime with a few posters. Like NUFC funnily enough, SAFC were looked at as having huge numbers and capable of mixing it with the best, but with rank bad organisation. Lad concerned named SAFC v Blades at Roker 90/91 was one of the best rucks he's had! Also said 'we' used the tightly crammed streets and Roker effectively....I saw someone else on the board mentioned Blades v SAFC at Bramall Lane, the boozer that was thrashed was on London Road IIRC... Very much Blades territory.

Also, Riveria mate, for what its worth I think you're one of the most informative posters on the board. If anyone ever levels at "you're not a real supporter" shite at me (bearing in mind my location, and I haven't been to game this decade!) I know in my heart I am SAFC, and I know I served my time in the Third Division and the old Second Division. Followed the lads to easily 25+ grounds away from home and must have been to 100's of home games......I risked a few kickings in the process. Example, Derby away (Poom goal).... I nearly got knacked at Sheffield train station. Sheffield United v Cardiff same day.... two mobs of 250+ up for it and me in casual gear (I am not a casual, but I'd never wear a shirt on my own on an away day) walking past two baying mobs. Literally walked between the two firms given my own police escort - Sheffield copper, "bloody hell, Sunderland, what the blodday 'ell are ya doing 'ere son?" :-P

Final thing..... My dad told me the story once of Sunderland and Leeds fans clashing by chance on the M1.... Days before mobile phones etc, and a sheer chance meeting at a service station. My old man said they had to close the M1 for an hour leading to huge tailbacks and it made the national news or sommit... Must have been mid-70's... Anyone shed any light?

There are loads of mouthy kids attaching themselves to the football but mouthy kids is all they are.
The old BCF lot weren't interested for whatever reason. 5 or 6 were up town but didn't bother with the match, few were on hols, etc. Very similar when the Mags were over (friendly few seasons ago). Mags turned up as well - about 30 of them took the Rambler, not a Carlisle lad in sight.
Carlisle aren't very active these days...Sheff Wed away was one and there was bother when Millwall were up towards end of 08/09 season (I think). A load of jocks (a lot Hibs) joined up with Millwall.
