Which is pretty much everything im trying to get at. 1000 thousand apparently gathered then most fucked off when the police came . Nothing to brag about on a forum.
There may be isolated incidents of violence but a large gathering of charvers chanting "who are ya" protected by the police doesn't constitute hell on. Pretty much what you said.
As for the mags game, as long as i walk up within the corden ill be fine. They'll have to try pretty hard to stitch me up.

You were spot on in your post in the 1000 a minority want trouble actually want it the majority want to get the phones out and hoy it in youtube, in reality if 1000 lads wanted it and 1000 from the other side the police would be fucked, just look when rangers fans lost the plot with the big screen tv.

The quote you have replied to he said the we scored. The Aldridge game , we didn't score. Therein lies the mix up that you and TLR have fell into.

I'
Aye looks like it. I had already replied before I read the friday night reply. I thought he meant the drink holiday sunday game. Oh well ho hum:lol:

What happened there?

It was a Saturday, we got beat two nil and the scousers couldn't understand why we were singing and chanting after they'd just been awarded a penalty, the lads on the radios had just passed the message on that Andy Cole had scored against Boro. We were promoted and Man U were champions brilliant f***ing day. !!

I'm sure that was a Sunday mate

Sheff. Utd fan at work asked me a similar question re: SAFC 'hoolies' not really being in the public domain.

He's been to Sunderland a few times and said he's never had any bother but sort of knew to keep his mouth shut, have a quiet pint, a bit of friendly banter and it'd be OK. Like at the majority of away matches.

Considering the turn out we get at away matches, and the number of people who are a bit 'handy' (I'm excluding the gobby chavs, talking about genuine hard-cases), then ther's the potential for a very large very nasty mob.

But like someone mentioned, the vast majority of our fans want a laugh, a drink, and to watch the footy. And we think that those who go out of their way to have a bit of organised pagger are a bit dim.

tbf i dont think have that many who go out of their way for organsied trouble. the vast majority of sunderlands 'lads' just go to the game to enjoy themselves with their mates and get pissed. if theres trouble then great but they generally dont do anything unless someones asking for it

The only thing ive ever scene over the years was outside The Bell & Windmills around 99/00??

Having a pint in The Bell after the Mag game and all of a sudden a window comes through, everyone piles out with those cast iron tables, chairs, pool que's and the balls!!

Mass brawl spilled out over station road, CS Gas all over, evryone come out of the club. I can remember 1 of the lads who was fighting was a newcastle fan but he drank with all the Fulwell lot and was fighting the Mags.

Strange night like, Jackie and Sue were picking bodies up and washing Cs gas out of there eyes and Peter Philipson was busy picking all his tables and chairs up and moaning that he would be charged for the pool balls

it kicked off the first time cardiff came to the sol too.

sure the first boro game at the sol the was trouble inside the ground near the nwc??

aye cardiff went into the wheatsheaf, furniture, glass and blood all over the place.
cant remember bother in the ground vs boro but i remember hundreds charging into them after the game and smashing coaches up

Boro fans in our end iirc

i remember they were in the west stand and there was trouble but that would have been about 2003 i think.
i remember one of them stupidly slipped out of the escort after the game, bit of a big fucker and walked through everyone on millenium way who were being pushed back by police. someone recognised him and next thing about 20 people were absoloutley kicking the fuck out of him. he crawled towards the police covered in blood and someone smashed a walking stick in half across his face. he wasnt moving very much after that

nar that was the season we were shite, the one im on about was 1st season @ the Sol think emerson or merson scored the winner, boro jumping round at the front and some of hours ran on from the east stand started scrapping, cant remember if there was many or just a couple of loons

daft bugger shouldnt have tried to be clever leaving the escort really though should he
recognsied one lad getting into him, proper rat from southwick who takes about 5 kids to the game (who were watching him booting into this bloke)

didn't a Sunderland fan run across the pitch and try and launch himself into their end?

Indeed, leave an escort, get beaten by 20 heroes. Seems fair to me....
