4 of the 8 need to be from our own academy.

Unless we sign Henderson, Pickford we will be registering with 4 empty slots anyway.

Hence the names in my OP

Are you sure? So how do we register such an abundance of foreign talent. They all under 21? You can't have over 17 foreign nationals. We certainly do need some homegrown players for squad depth.

Whatever happens we're not registering 4 who have come through our own academy because there aren't any.

For the 17 Regis will have to decide who doesn't make the cut, it happens all the time. It's also just 8 games (hopefully more)

Bayern was an example, but most top teams have two extremely good keepers battling for #1. You comfortable if something happened to Roefs that Ellborg or Moore are going to hold their own against AC Milan, Juventus, Leverkusen, Benfica, RB Salzburg or any of the other number of top teams we could be facing next season?

It’s early days on Ellborg, but I quite like what I have seen. But the question of whether we need a better back up is very different to suggesting we could have Pickford and Roefs fighting it out for the number one spot.

You won't be able to register a lot of these players. Only 17 would be allowed and then you must have home grown players. Maybe losing Cirkin and Neil is a mistake? Anyway we need homegrown players this window. Archie Brown at left back could be a good choice, Cresswell too. How about Liam Delap? Could get for twenty million?

I wouldn't sign players purely because of their nationality, we still have to find the right ability and value, but for me this is why Henderson should be targeted. I don't see any logic in going for Kondogbia when Henderson can fill that veteran rotation role, comes with so much upside in terms of leadership and fills an academy homegrown spot too.

I didn't see us signing a whole new squad last summer so you may be right but for sure it will be quality over quantity.

Definitely not as composed as Roefs or Mignolet, even Pickford who have came in at a similar age.

Think he was one absolutely howler away from us looking very shaky there.

It is a big step up though and hopefully the minutes he got will be good experience for when he’s called into the side next time.

He admitted that he was basically shitting himself on his debut, that will pass. I’m not saying he will definitely prove to be good enough, but the idea of having Pickford and Roefs is ludicrous, neither are settling for second choice.

No chance of getting Pickford whilst Roefs is here. We’re in no need of another goalkeeper. Not a first or second choice anyway.

Yeah the academy thing is right. I thought we were doing well developing players but not at elite level. Are there any apart from Pickford and Henderson? Guess if not then go with 21 man squad and then under 21s. I'm guessing Mayenda counts as homegrown so worth keeping? Maybe he's under 21 anyway?

I think that’s it, we’ll go with 21 first team players and will be great experience for 4 academy lads to come along too.

The real debate is like you said who doesn’t make the cut for the 17 foreign places.
