Running Thread 2026

Take your time. Don't compare yourself to before and parkrun is fab 😀.
Oh and obviously you'll need at least one pair of new trainers if not more 🤣. Good luck.
I’ve got a shed full of rejects (and a barely worn pair of Saucony Triumphs responsible for my current situation)

I’ve got to be careful with these unstable squishy things they have now.

A few lads and lasses i know have gone up to do the Edinburgh Marathon Festival this weekend, anyone doing that one?

I did it, and it was brutal. My previous three marathons have all been over 20 degrees, but with this one being coastal there was no shade whatsoever. Also there wasn't near enough water stations, luckily the good old Scottish crowd came to the rescue when I needed it.
Does anyone on here use the Garmin Forerunner??? I use the GarminVivoActive 3 at the moment but looking to upgrade and only really do running now so any recommendations

I use a Garmin Forerunner 965 and love it. Very good GPS, long battery life, easy pairing with devices such as hr monitors, and accurate vo2 max against my lab results. The 965 is pricey, but anything from the 265 upwards will be decent for running specific.

Yeah but it’s been a few years since I took notice and i think the GNR may even take a lot more notice of numbers being sold . A lot of people defer their numbers but i bet loads still look to sell and get some money back

Got another giveaway for the lucky runners of RTG if anyone is interested, my number for Windermere Marathon Sunday 14th June is up for grabs, I paid for the Large shirt too so you'll get that at finish also haha.

Emailed them saying I wouldn't be able to make it but it must've been after they started posting race packs out, just arrived today.

It's currently sitting there teasing me, like Green Goblin's helmet with Willem Dafoe in Spiderman 😅

I'm confident I'd be able to get round if I attempted it but it would no doubt set my knee recovery way back haha. So hopefully someone can take it from me to remove the temptation 😅

Knee been feeling loads better, dunno how much of it has been down to the exercises the physio showed me and how much of it has been down the fact I've barely ran for a while, suspect a bit of both.

Tried a 10k yesterday, started feeling it a little bit in the knee and woke up this morning and it's feeling like a 1-2/10 pain wise. Definitely made the right decision withdrawing from Hartlepool and Windermere races.

Gunna try it again Sunday and see how it feels, might have to drop back off again for another week or so.

Slowly heading in the right direction but seems like it'll be at least another couple of weeks for a full return. Was eyeing up the Durham 10k in mid July as something to try and train and get back for but will hold off on booking that for now.
Shit that mate, I’d have reimbursed you but I’m in a stag that weekend. Hope you get sorted

Decided to pace the Riverside run today and took the 21min pacer vest. What a lovely experience, two of the runners afterwards thanking me for helping them out and pushing them along. Will definitely do that again, felt great. Give it a go if you haven’t, excellent way to keep yourself disciplined with pace!

Cheers mate, definitely heading in the right direction just gunna keep trying it out once a week....feels much better than a few weeks ago just not quite enough to handle sustained pounding the pavement. I can still play Padel and hit the cardio machines a couple times a week with no ill effect, so at least I can maintain some level of fitness.
