RAWA May Collective Meeting Minutes

My concern with that is, a day tripper from abroad is more valuable to the club than someone like me who's had a season ticket for donkey years.

My net spend with the club is my season ticket and the odd bit of merch. I don't buy any food or drink in the ground.

Bob brings his family from abroad for the match. They all get kitted out in the club shop, buy souvenirs to take home, buy food and drink in the ground and so on. Their net spend is much higher than mine.

Repeat Bob with different "tourist" supporters over the course of the season and the money is a great deal more than what I'm spending.

I don't know if it would happen, but I would hate to see loyal fans get priced out for the tourists.
That is the general direction of PL travel.

Clubs (generically) do not want to be discounting their main product (match tickets) for season tickets, when there's a queue of people who can't get in. Those who are only going once or twice a season are more likely to buy a membership, a shirt, food inside the ground etc. as you point out.

Mags have found this given some of the laughable off-site hospitality experiences they've been flogging, but it sharp came back to bite them on the arse seeing how tickets were readily available via resale for their last couple of home games when the form went off a cliff.

It's also a tightrope for any club as the second relegation happens, and tickets are more easily available, you've pissed off a core of supporters.

Side point but 'FG would like to kick start the atmosphere at the start of the second half and wondered if singing a newsong at the end of half-time would develop the atmosphere.' - I hope to God they've learned from the negative reaction to playing Can't Help Falling in Love, a couple of times at the start of the second half.

Also not discussed but I wish they would consider putting maybe 50 to 100 of the away ticket allocation (so ~3% for most games) into a ballot to give younger fans a chance of an away day. I was fortunate to be able to take my lad to the Everton cup game but odds are we won't get to another for at least a couple of years.

Funny how people are blaming that Tom
Burwell for the “non-segregated” match bollocks but it wasn’t even him who suggested it, it was Steve Wood 😂
Also why has no one mentioned that Florent Ghisolfi suggested a new song being needed at the end of half time to get the team pumping, any suggestions?

Get fucked. It wasn’t needed in league one, funny that

Nobody wanted to skip the queue for Cheltenham away - wonder why

The shamelessness of those who didn’t go back then knows no bounds

Bit of an overreaction like? Wasn't exactly viable to take a 4 year old to away games in his first proper season (2022-23) and this coming season will be his fifth year as a season ticket holder.

He will get his chance.

No need to be artificially booting blokes who’ve been going for 40+ years through thick and thin

Bide his time and he will be able to slowly build - and it’s a privilege to be young when we’ve got a team doing so well that it’s difficult to get tickets

Hence I suggested allocating via a ballot, a tiny fraction of what's given, probably even less than gets swept up by players' families and corporate.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only opportunity he had this season (which we took) was Everton away. We possibly got 1 BCP for the Man City home game too (but then again so would everyone else). Not going to scratch the surface, particularly when they lapse over the years too. I've done home cup games with him, I made it to QPR away a couple of seasons back on a midweek night but he was far too young.

I've posted elsewhere that he doesn't know how good he's got it, I've sat through far more misery as a football fan over the past 25 years than he had in that middle SAFC Championship season. But I was fortunate to be able to regularly go to all the Midlands away games with Wolves when I was an early teenager. I know it's different up here given every away game bar the obvious one is a 200+ mile round trip, so people aren't deterred by the distance.

I think with europe he'll get a chance at a few league aways this season. Its going to cost people a lot of cash and many will simply have to cut back on the games they attend. Just make sure you do all the home cup games and they will help build some points up too.

I disagree and without turning this into the closed shop vs ballot argument for the 100th time. While it would be canny to get younger kids guaranteed tickets they can’t attend with a parent/guardian who’s over 18, so that would require more tickets etc.

Surely it would be nice for younguns to attend home matches why don’t we take season tickets off people for a ballot etc etc.

PL clubs want tourist fans in seats every game, someone whose going to drop £200 in the club shop pre game and spend £100 on food and drinks for his family.

It happens around the world, I went to watch the Dallas cowboys last season and it cost me about £450 for seats, plus stadium tour and beers + food. Was sat behind a season ticket holder and next to him was a giants fan who they were playing at the time

You realise not everyone either could, or was of age, to go then yeah? I don't really give a fuck, I'm not local anymore, but this whole attitude of 'get fucked, you weren't there at Cheltenham' is very childish.

I didn't realise it had already been done to death. There's a million ifs and buts that would go with it, for sure.

If everyone going has done the hard yards then presumably you see the same faces every fortnight unless it's a low allocation like Bournemouth? I saw the branch furore a few months back and I've obviously got no experience of whether tickets are still re-sold or passed on, given the club seems to be trying to combat that?

Hi @Becs just read the document and the mention of phase 3 for season tickets. Does that mean there are still season tickets potentially going to be on sale for next season or does it mean for the season after?
