Xhaka, Le Fee and Mukiele

What a fecking time to be alive man! We all thought we were gone as a top club and the mags taken over by the richest owners ever.........Let it sink in we have players like this who love us and we are in Europe because of them all. I seriously just thought I'd always support a low club after missing the boat but had the best 24 months football wise of my life.

He’s talking about in Sunderlands history
Good players but ……

They are both up there in recent history for me (only watched since 90s)...

And hopefully set to get even better...🤞

I feel like I always comment this about Enzo but genuinely, I still can’t believe he played for us in the championship. One of the best players I’ve ever seen play football at the stadium and he’s ours. It’s remarkable what’s happened to this football club in the space of 5 years. Makes watching us battle to a 2-2 draw v Accrington Stanley worth it.

He committed to us 1st out of everyone. I wont forget that

Think Shackleton needs a mention if we're talking about all time creatives. The podium must have Shackleton, Carter and Le Fee on it? Not sure if the other two grafted like Le Fee does. Superb.

Xhaka probably has a podium all to himself. I posted earlier in the season about how we've never had a player who manages a game like Granit. Struggling to think of who could match him. Different era's but would the closest be the likes of Colin Todd or Stan Anderson?

Mukiele takes the gold medal for best right back surely as well as being up there as best centre half. I'd not swap him for any other defender in world football right now.

Special mention for Roefs and Sadicki as well. For me those 5 players are Champions League level nevermind Europa League.

It's hard to compare Xhaka and Le Fee cause they're different kinds of players. Le Fee's a very skilful and technical player. Xhaka's also a terrific player with great technique but he's not as flashy, though is one of the best leaders in football. Mukiele's all round great too. If I had to rank them for what they bring I'd say 1 Xhaka (by a great distance) then 2 Le Fee 3 Mukiele, but all 3 of them make our best all time 11, at least from what I've seen.

I'm not sure even he knew how good he is and how good he could be at the start of the season TBH. He's grown massively as the season has gone on.
Yeah, remember the start of the season people were saying he wouldn't get a game and he didn't start a few but now he's irreplaceable. I hope Diarra kicks on next season but don't see where he fits in with ELF, Sadiki and Xhaka, will he be happy to sit on the bench ? FTM

Back in the 1980s I was sat on a wooden bench in Sunderland next to an old man and we got talking about the best players we had seen live and I said George Best and Jim Baxter. He just smiled and shook his head and said better than both of them was Shacks. So I still take his word for that and Shacks should be on the podium with Le Fee. Funny enough my mam was a Sunderland supporter back in the 1930s when Carter played for us and she always went on about how great he was. So living people at the time would have agreed with you.

We were a team of champions from the late 1800's until the 1950's.
Yet none of us alive now saw many if any of those players .
My late father would have probably said Raich Carter,Bobby Gurney or Len Shackleton .
I would go for Jim Baxter,Colin Todd,Brian Clough or Kevin Phillips.
Neither Xhaka or le fee would get in above Jeff Whitley imho
Certainly not if it came to a penalty shootout.🤣🤣
Certainly not in a penalty shoot out anyway...
Bugger bear me to it.

They are the top 3 players this season, roefs was up there and he still been very good but since injury hasn’t been as consistent, honourable mentions for brobbey and sadiki, DB and alderete also
