I mean the linesman stopped as the ball crossed the line, didn’t run back up the line and put his hand to his ear. He saw the offside but with VAR there’s no benefit to him calling it

I don’t think it’s “killing” football no. Crowds are as big as ever, TV deals bigger than ever, viewing figures higher than ever. All the PL clubs want VAR. The market isn’t saying that it’s killing the game. Stakeholders want it. No metric suggests it’s “killing” the game.
It’s the referee’s call at that point. The AR told him Souza was offside, but Kavanagh ruled he didn’t interfere with play and gave the goal.

Is waiting around for a decision crap? Yes. Is being on the end of a wrong decision without VAR crap? Also yes. What people mean when they say they hate VAR is they hate the fact a goal can be chalked off (correctly) against them and they’d like to benefit from scoring illegally. When it’s flipped around everyone wants VAR then.
