I wonder if they will mention much about the Kasserine Pass?I bet the importance of the N Africa campaign will barely be mentioned because they did not play a major role in it.

I fairness they were in North Africa too, got absolutely pummelled in their first major encounter with ze germansI bet the importance of the N Africa campaign will barely be mentioned because they did not play a major role in it.
likely they skim over it & wang on about how great Mark Clark was at taking Rome rather than chasing after the retreating enemy.I wonder if they will mention much about the Kasserine Pass?
He did yeah, just speaking to my dad about it, and he'd read it.Was gonna ask if it compared to TWAW. I suppose USA focused/exaggerated too...?
Iconic. Absolute spine-tingling broadcasting. But why does he pronounce Ukraine like he's from Walsall?!
I think he covered this in one of his receht books, if he mentions which one - can't remember myself - it was worth buying. Sorry to be vague but I always have a WWII book going so they can blur into one!
And thats how its gonna be judged the style is so similar but the content just isn't on a par.I reckon this would be a solid 7.5/10 but then for weeks I’ve just thought ‘what’s the point. I’ll just watch world at war again’ for some guaranteed 11/10.
"Down this road on a summer day in 1944, the soldiers came."
Is it that bad?Lasted about 20min before switching it off and deleting it from my planner.
noIs it that bad?
It's not terrible, it's just typical American dumbing down.Is it that bad?
And yet he was heavily involved in making the greatest historical docu-drama on WW2. Some of the best TV ever made.Soon as I saw the words 'With Tom Hanks' that was enough to make my mind up and not watch it...
And some half decent films, but apart from that…And yet he was heavily involved in making the greatest historical docu-drama on WW2. Some of the best TV ever made.
Especially when they had first hand testimony of people of all types who served, some involved in government, some high level officers, serving soldiers, sailors and airmen. Even civilians and not forgetting those held in Nazi concentration camps.the world at war cannot be beaten.
which is what i did - its fine, it won't live long in the memory but its not bad. the improved footage, and production quality tells a story that complements the world at war - there's room for both imho.Think I will give the first episode a go and form my own opinion.
Not holding on to too much hope.
