Review of Our Finances (Swiss Ramble)

What surprises me in the finance report is that retail and merchandise reduced from £3M in 2024 to £1.2M in 2025. This was the first season of the Hummel deal wasn’t it? Thought we sold a record number of strips.
I suppose it depends on what the clubs cut is from sales? And is there a lumper paid elsewhere from hummel / fanatics?....although that first year wasn't there big stretches where they didn't have stock as well?

The supply side seems a lot more consistent nowadays

True but it’s a huge reduction despite significantly increased sales.
No idea mate, as seems like volume wise we flogged a lot more, so may well be money elsewhere accounting for rhe drop.

Doesn't help that its only online and the club shop knocking stuff out either in a lot of cases, where as other clubs have the vast network of fat mikes emporium to get sales as well

I may be wrong but previously when we had the Nike deal we may have banked all sales then paid everyone their cut whereas now we just get the cut as it’s Fanatics who deal with everything.

That’s how Celtic can spend so much more than Rangers in Scotland as they have a club shop whereas Rangers shirt get the cuts. Both sell similar numbers but different ways of showing it.

When we buy a player for £50m on a 5 year deal for example, for PSR purposes, its £10m spread over 5 years but when you sell for £50m (or whatever), that £50m is instantly put in that years accounts.

I read that for SCR, the £50m sale was to be spread out over a length of time rather than going onto the accounts the same year as the sale. Can anyone confirm that or is it no true?

I’ve found it and I’m sad enough to answer my own question:

Player Sales: If your club finalizes a major transfer (e.g., on deadline day), that profit is distributed across three seasons for SCR calculations, preventing clubs from relying on sudden, one-time sales to instantly boost their immediate spending power.

I think it is because we now license others to sell SAFC branded merch rather than make and sell ourselves. Lower revenue but also lower costs (and hopefully better cash flow).
