Anthony Gordon to Bayern.

I will be in a minority but I think Barcelona have got him for a good price.

60 odd million for a bloke who has scored goals at the highest level, a full international, young and I think with good coaching can improve much more.

Too inconsistent for me.

Plus, he appears to be a massive arsehole. That’s twice he’s downed tools to get a move.

Don't understand why some mags are fuming with him for going. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are golath clubs compared to the relatively average Newcastle, he would be a fool not to go.
Any player would, there's a few clubs in the whole world that people would have to be mental not to join if given the chance and barca is definitely in that group

I believe profit on player sales will now spread over 3 years under SCR compared to PSR. On the plus side for the Mags they can put down most of the sale price as profit as his book value will be pretty low given he has been there for three years. That means pretty much £20m per year for the next few years. Healthy but not game changing.

That being said, the timing of this before 30th June means the profit can be able to be used for this last year of the PSR regime as well as being able to go towards the new SCR calculation for next season. Part of me wonders if the Mags might have had more of an issue with PSR for this last year that I'd assumed (seems unlikely given the Isak sale but it makes you wonder)
His initial fee of £45m was £9m a year amortisation leaving £18m on the the PSR/SCR books. They owe Everton 15% of the £15m profit which is £2.25m so just over £20m on the books, leaving them a PSR/SCR book 'profit' of around £40m (I think).

That's if they had nowt left to pay Everton as transfer fees aren't always paid up front either, nor split over the contract length like amortisation so cash flow could be different as it could all be paid off by now.

The simple non PSR way is, they paid £45m, sold for £60m, made £15m, paid Everton £2.25m so were left with £12.75m profit. This is also ignoring the potential £9m in bonuses if triggered at some point in future.

This early sale no doubt helps them get the books in order. They've breached SCR recently and it will be part of the agreement with UEFA that they have a positive transfer window balance as I think that's what happened with Chelsea & Villa when they breached it.

I wonder who else they will sell over the summer as they don't need to sell all their big names but are they all happy staying? There's Tonali who is possibly next but Hall has shown signs he's not been happy and he's had interest from other clubs. Livramento's injuries have probably slowed his potential sale but a decent World Cup may change things.

I doubt Bruno will go but if he wants silverware then he must have doubts in his mind now given the mags ain't the next Man City. He acts like a dick but he could easily get into a Champions League next season to have go at winning it and even be in with a shout of Premier League if he left. The same could be in the back of the mind of other players, knowing their chances of silverware is better at other clubs as the richest club in the world aren't progressing like they once showed and the signs have been clear that PIF aren't pumping money in like they could.

The problem with the mags is they need a bigger squad core to compete so they've tried to get 2 'decent' players from midfield and attack to rotate. They don't have the finances to pay the 2nd fiddle players the big money either unlike Man City etc who can have £m's in wages sitting on the bench waiting to come on

Romano is the key source on this and he's quoted €69m which is essentially £60m. £2.5m to Everton (15%) and they are making about £12m on him.

I expected him to go for more.
It's always the same once someone reports it as £'s instead of €'s 🤪 But as above the sell-on is on profit, not amount.

He's not a bad as some make out as it's obvious some bias comes into it as he's a mag. I think he's had his face up his arse as he hasn't been playing as regularly as he would like, the club hasn't progressed and this season has been shite for them, plus he wanted out before didn't he?

He's a decent player but is also a master of the dark arts which draws fouls in the final 3rd. Barcelona probably see him as a potential opposite wing player to Raphina who was a similar fee from Leeds 4 seasons ago when aged 25.

I'm not saying Gordon's anywhere near Raphina's level but he's still only 25 so not at his peak IMO. It took some time for Raphina to show what he's like at Barcelona and I won't be surprised if Gordon performs better there than he did at the mags.

Accountancy wise it'll be a lot more as a lot of the initial transfer fee will already be discounted as he's been there what 3 seasons?

It'll give them room to spend a lot more for sure, but as a stand alone deal it's not amazing imo. Certainly Liverpool were linked with him for £75m last year (pounds not Euros in this case).

I'd also say they need to spend though at GK, CB, LW, RW and CF. That's assuming they keep their full backs and CM's.

I suspect there will be another couple of departures yet and no euro football will free them from uefa for a season at least.
Will all be about how they rebuild this summer and playing just once a week will help their dogs chasing a balloon style so won't be as knackered next season.

But then everyone's rebuilding this year Chelsea, Liverpool, man u,
Spurs, villa and forest will be flush after flogging Anderson for an obscene amount no doubt

Gonna be a tough old season next year I suspect

Yep. Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern, Man United. Joining these clubs isn’t usually an opportunity afforded more than once. Every player should want to play for the big clubs. They are the biggest.

Aye. Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Forest won’t be as bad.
City with a new gaffer are unknown but I think they’ll be worse.
Arsenal I think will be similar to this season.
Villa better next year.
Owt could happen with the 3 Bs and ourselves.
Leeds similar.
Everton similar.
Palace worse.
Fulham worse.
Mags worse.
Promoted clubs to be bottom 4 at best.

If Bruno leaves their spirit will be broken. Losing their leader/best player alongside with their best striker in generations (Isak) plus their best winger in the space of 6 months won't be easy to recover from.

Yep, Europe is gonna play a massive part and how fit the players can keep themselves. Palace is a weird one, if iraola goes there and they buy well they maybe OK but looks like they will lose mateta this summer so thats a big loss.

A lot to be said for only playing once a week with no euro fatigue compared to what will be smaller squads and that grind period of 2 or 3 games a week plus traveling so never get to train properly
