Problem with Burnley is that they ended up having to spend most of their budget making loans permanent so they essentially had the same side that they had in the Championship, minus probably their best player (the keeper) who they sold. That was never going to work.
 
It was a worse league this season i said to my boro supporting mate at Christmas 83/84 would be enough for the top 2.

Last season 3 teams smashed that and we downed tools and where just short of that.

Its a huge step Leeds had a good base used 5 players regularly from last season. Us just 3 really with some cover for when short.

The premier league is a lot faster and physical and you get punished ruthlessly for mistakes.

Watched a lot of championship games this the amount of midfielders who are not comfortable on the ball is scary.

Recruitment is key and any player a newly promoted team can attract a more established team can pick off.

Its a brutal league.

Is it even financially possible for those clubs to ‘do a Sunderland’ though? Ipswich could be bought out by the Sultan of Brunei but will be restricted as they spent a load the previous time. Hull and their transfer embargo may actually help them as they are starting on a clean slate of sorts.
 
Out of the 3 Coventry will do the best I think.

All 3 will struggle guaranteed I think. Sunderland success and spending won't be duplicated for a while I don't think. Leeds already had a good squad and spent a fair bit as well, Burnley who didn't invest seen what happens.

Ipswich will learn lessons from previous experience, but I can't see them having enough.

It's a massive positive the calibre of teams which have been promoted, everyone knows if we qualify for Europe it could potentially hinder our league position, not that I think it will if it happens as I think we will build a deep enough squad to cope with it, but we can be confident the teams which have come up should be of a bad quality to go straight back down.

Every club has its time in the sun mate, and only Arsenal/Man Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool/Everton/Spurs are yet to be relegated from the modern Premier League.

I'm sure many clubs like Leicester or Stoke never thought it would happen to them but any club is only one bad summer window or start to the season away from disaster. Spurs hopefully dropping off that above list tomorrow.

The bell will toll for Brighton/Bournemouth/Brentford at some point in the future too.

Be interesting to see what happens with Bournemouth after this season with the manager leaving

I mean, he did say he was similar to Zidane so I’m not sure if he’s criticizing him or not.

Maybe, but it’s not all that relevant. It could be argued that Burnley had a better base squad than safc 12 months ago.
Certainly Coventry have a decent squad and were the strongest in the championship this season but you will need to spend good money, bring in successful loans and prepare a squad to play sensible football to have a chance.
 
No point in making predictions until the season is close to starting and even then transfer window will still be open until end of August. Even when we were making top signings last summer all and sundry were writing us off and look what happened.

Yeah Burnley built their promotion on being solid at the back and then lost their two most important defensive players.
 
Same was said last season doesn't mean its going to happen as this season has panned out. Its been a very strange season with regards results, form etc.
We need to spend at least a £100M nett just to stand still because others around us will be. Statistically we have a 65% of getting relegated 2nd season against 85% in the 1st.
We'll see what the summer brings we need more quality less numbers than last season.
 
However much we dislike it or disagree with it, fans of all three will see us and their fellow promotees as the ones to beat. Bookies likely to agree, citing a vast overachievement by us this season. The task next season is to change their minds as quickly as possible.
