England World Cup squad news

That's a good squad in all reality.

The defense looks weak, but i'm not sure the inclusion of TAA, Shaw or Maguire would change my mind.

I love Hendo, but not sure he should be there, but I get that a team needs experienced leaders.

I know he's had a poor season, but Palmer has proven he's a big game player (scored in the final of the Euros and WCC), and should be there. I don't see many on that list that has the "keys" or that bit of magic to get us out of a hole.
Our starting 11 pretty strong I think Stones is there to have Man C at the back & Rice is the key playing great football at the moment single handily could get us in the final.

Kane will start every game so we could have English striker available to have a massive bench (I agree with Toney, even if he only gets subbed on a minute before the penalties 🙄)
Kane is about 35 now isn't he ?

In this case he wont start every match in 35C heat . If we qualify or get ahead he'll be rested / pulled .

This world cup will be a test of endurance & energy in sapping conditions .

These are conditions thst England traditionally wilt in

All of England's group matches are in afternoon heat ... the first vs Croatis at 3pm in Texas ! Temp probably north of 30C. High humidity. A killer for English players

That will be exhausting and if we lose could be quite significant

Very important to win that match and allow players to recover/ rest thereafter

Next 2 games ( Ghana & Pananma ) are on East Coast so perhaps (?) a little fresher

Tuchel is a pretty deep thinker I assume - so he'll hopefully have a strategy for this

5 subs per game helps.

Rotation for each match essential
Talking about yhe hot conditions in USA on summer- perhaps that had influenced the Toney decision

... if hes proven he can perform well in the heat of Middle East ?

55 goals in 62 games would suggest he has.

32.

Surprised hes still only 32/33

Seems like we've been talking about his age for years

He did start at top level very young didn't he

Feels like hes been around for ever

Hopefully well rested as German football finishes sooner & CL is done

England have always suffered from taking the so-called best players and then shoe horning them into a formation. Playing Paul Scoles out wide so we could fit in Gerrard and Lampard is the best example. Tuchel picks the formation or formations and is taking the players he thinks will best for that system and also the players who he likes the attitude of. I would have taken Maguire instead of Burn and Palmer instead of Rogers. But I am also happy that there is method in what Tuchel is doing. We would all take Wharton instead of Henderson but, again there is logic to it. When it came to the crucial moments Southgate was founding wanting. I have more confidence that when playing the real top sides Tuchel is a better manager.
You wouldn't have taken Rogers  is that a typo

Hall now rumoured left out. Wtf is he doing 🤣
Hall is shite. I read it on here so must be true.
Seriously though, Morgan Gibbs White has zero chance under Tuchel. He has been excellent all season and doesn’t get in.
Eze has had a handful of games where he has excelled. Rest he has been a bit part.
Toney….. I am still staggered.
MGW has been one of the better players in the league this season imo
If he was at City, United or Arsenal and had the same season he would be going. Simple as that. A very strange omission.

Marc Guehi coming in for some sickening comments now on X. He came here at 1 year old, is a committed Christian, fully integrated and has represented England at all levels.

Strangely, no such comments on the likes of Ben Stokes or Owen Hargreaves.

That lass is vile.

I’m not sure that Quansah is playing lower level football unless your suggestion is that Harry Kane also is.
Freiberg are 7th in the Bundesliga and got totally outshone by Villa in the Europa League Final. Munchen are different level but there's plenty of cannon fodder in the division.
Quansah's Leverkusen are 6th although well ahead of 7th. Let's be generous and say that the top 6 are EPL standard. That's 10 EPL standard games Quansah has had this season. Not sure what they did in Europe this season.
Put Sunderland in the Bundesliga and we qualify for the Champions League.
All my life after another feck up in a tornament the press have said we need to build a team, not shoehorn star players in, for once a managers done that and the press are in meltdown.
They are bloody crackers.
We have tried every wich way but loose since 66 so we may as well try this.
There's a difference between not shoehorning players in and picking abject shite players. Burn, Spence ffs.
Picking TAA above Liveramento wouldn't constitute shoe horning. Picking Shaw over Spence wouldn't constitute shoe horning. Picking my granny who's been dead for 30 years over Burn wouldn't constitute shoe horning.
Take the point re shoehorning 3 or 4 10's into the team just because they're the most talented players but they're different types of 10's. Bellingham and Rogers are similar but totally different to Foden and Palmer. Look at Villa. They play with Rogers and Buendia. Eze played his best football as part of a front 3 at Palace. Gibbs-White could play anywhere across the midfield at this point.
If you can't find a template to get the best out of this talent then you've failed as a coach.
I fear Tuchel has read far too much into the qualifying results against inferior opposition and believes his own hype. Fair play if he pulls it off but at this point there's no clear rationale for not picking your best players... ...unless you've just signed a massive contract and fancy a pay off

He hasn't proven he can play against top quality defenders in the heat. What's more important?

There's really no justification for a whole host of his selections and non selections. Other than if they go on to play brilliantly and he then takes massive credit. Although unless he wins it even if they play well everyone will still be saying "if only he'd picked Palmer etc".

Is Liveramento travelling by ambulance?

If his defending against us is anything to go by he'll not spot the plane.
The lad was obviously not fit to play that game (even off the bench?) and subsequently got injured again. Now another clown is picking him injured. Does he use his managers as a half time orange???
I think he's a good prospect but not as good as James or TAA (or even Walker) at this point and his form this season doesn't warrant selection ahead of them. In a world where Reece James is made of tin foil picking an injured understudy is some risk mind.
Remarkably he's not even the worst right back or Visitors defender who has been picked!!!

according to the sports reporter on R4 today Burn was picked more for what he 'adds' to the squad(vibes maybe 🤷‍♂️) than anything else
Sensible policy!
Neither were going to play. And given one ran his mouth off on social media as soon as he was told, probably tells you the type of character he is if he’s not playing.
Probably a very angry one after he found out he was out and Burn was in despite their form this season.

Not only is that not generous but it's absolutely ludicrous.

Freiburg are not EPL standard on the basis that Villa beat them 3-0... But Villa beat Forest 4-0 in the previous round who are EPL standard.

Leverkusen also played 4 games against EPL teams in the Champions League, only losing 1 or them (to Arsenal).

Football maths doesn't work.
