England World Cup squad news

Burn won't play unless we need a big lump to defend/attack set pieces for the last 10 mins. Henderson is obviously great around the squad and could be used to give Rice a break against shite like Panama (or whoever we're playing, can't remember). Toney will be used for pens.
The final stages of the World Cup are a completely different entity to say, a Caraboa cup game, Burn is not international class let alone World Cup quality.

The World Cup generally reverts to football once the group stage is over.

Goalkeepers:
Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace) ✅

Interesting that. Reading through it, and assuming who will play, it looks like most of your disagrees are peripheral calls, rather than first XI issues

Rice will be the key for England starting 11 good not sure it’s good enough to win the WC our back line will struggle later stages of the tournament if we get there…Pickford will have to excellent to cover up our back line.

This is the most disinterested I've ever been for a world cup, and now I've just seen TT's selections, it's not made me feel any different, maybe even a bit worse tbh!

I'm not going to go over the selections as I think we're pretty much all in agreement. To leave the goal threat of MGW out and ATA's ball delivery is rather baffling, and I'm worried that we'll struggle to create. There's some players there who've not seen much game time too, which does beg the question on why they have been picked.

Hopefully, I can get a bit more enthusiastic about the World Cup in the next few weeks because I really couldn't give a toss about it at present.

100%. I think the starting line up will be decent but the back ups are not up to much

Assume it will be
Pickford

James
Konsa
Guehi
O'Reilly

Rice
Anderson
Rogers/Bellingham

Kane
Saka
Gordon/Rashford

Burn is probably happier to sit on the bench than Maguire.

Maguire has made a bit of a tit of himself in the past 24 hours making statements etc, he may have been a disruptive influence in the squad if he wasn't playing.

This is the right area of the squad I have questions with

Yes that's what I think too.

If I look to what I assume is the bench, I'm not sure I've got tonnes of options to really change a match. Whichever of Rogers/Bellingham doesn't start perhaps and Watkins/Toney in the right type of match

Feel like you’re overreacting here mate, no offence. This squad is solid, two or three head scratcher exclusions but other than that it’s a team well capable of winning it
I’d be astonished if they made the final never mind winning it.

Well he’s hardly going to be arguing that Kane shouldn’t have come is he?

The issue is that a lot of people thought players like Gibbs-White, and Maguire should have been in the starting lineup. So looking at his rejection of fringe players doesn’t mean that he agrees with the likely starting line necessarily

Surely Henderson is well past international football by now?
I think he’s being brought is as a replacement for Anderson in case of injury, so that we don’t have to stifle Rice and ask him to drop back from an 8 to a 6.

Not sure I agree with the call though. If it were up to me, and Anderson was injured then I could go with 6 Rice, 8 Bellingham, 10 Rogers

That's a good squad in all reality.

The defense looks weak, but i'm not sure the inclusion of TAA, Shaw or Maguire would change my mind.

I love Hendo, but not sure he should be there, but I get that a team needs experienced leaders.

I know he's had a poor season, but Palmer has proven he's a big game player (scored in the final of the Euros and WCC), and should be there. I don't see many on that list that has the "keys" or that bit of magic to get us out of a hole.
