England World Cup squad news

I think it’s shocking. Henderson, Burn, Spence, Toney, Livramento, Stones, Quanser.
Gibbs-White, Maguire,Shaw,Welbeck must be absolutely devastated.

It’s like he’s given a lot of care and thought for the starting 11 then thought fuck it for the rest of the squad. Just got to hope that we don’t get any injuries and the players can cope well with the heat because otherwise we are buggered

Henderson is a crazy pic as well. If your wanting him to be there for leadership and moral then take him as a coach

He might also throw him on towards the end of games if we have a slender need to try and help see it out imo.

Announced:

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), James Trafford (Manchester City)

Defenders: Reece James (Chelsea), Tino Livramento (Newcastle), Marc Guehi (Manchester City), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), John Stones (Manchester City), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), Nico O'Reilly (Manchester City), Dan Burn (Newcastle), Djed Spence  (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Declan Rice (Arsenal), Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jordan Henderson (Brentford), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Ivan Toney (Al-Ahli), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Noni Madueke (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)

As journalism goes, this maybe the worlds worst example
What’s worse is that upside down heed doesn’t give any evidence to back up that quote.

“I've watched Dan Burn for several seasons and he deserves to be there. He has a heroic performance in him, a player who will grow with the occasion. I'm not sure some of the others do. He could, for me, be England's Jack Charlton of 1966!”

How does that work for dopey Dan Burn but not Harry Maguire? We have the two best corner kick takers in Rice and Saka and we’re leaving slabhead in Manchester. It’s bizarre like…

Aye i agree ref Hendo should be back room waste of place

Just no:
Stones
Burn
Livramento
Quansah!?!??

(To be honest not really got too much of a problem with Djed Spence. Especially going forward)

The midfield? It’s ok….but only 7 named as midfielders?

Strikers:
Toney? Hmmmm, not sure about that at all given where he has been playing
Madueke? No
Gordon No.

Players missing that perhaps SHOULD be there.
Calvert-Lewin instead of Toney.
Gibbs-White instead of Gordon
Even Palmer instead of Madueke.

Defensibly the options are much smaller, but even though it is likely to have been his last tournament, Maguire (simply because he is playing and showing form) is a better shout than a chronically un-match fit Stones and Lewis-Skelly, Hall and perhaps even Acheampong as back up to the ‘back four’ of James, Konsa, Guehi and O’Reilly.

Even Garner or Dewsbury-Hall are showing more current form than Madueke and Gordon right now.

Still….he no doubt has a plan to utilise the players he has picked, so we will see. 🤔

There are some strange inclusions but I can’t believe John Stones has been picked based upon his performance this season as he will be on the sick bench the entire tournament.

Garner is a shout, been playing full back at points as well.

there’s a few in that squad who are made of biscuits.

Maduekes done nowt for Arsenal, Jordan Henderson shouldn’t be anywhere near either IMO - backroom staff as an experienced head aye. Gibbs white not being in is ridiculous and thought shaw would have been a good shout

This squad doesn’t fill me with much hope. Too much Mag shite, and players who haven’t (or have barely) played.

Hope I’m wrong. I understand not taking Foden due to form, but by that yardstick, I can’t understand not taking Gibbs White.

Eze and Morgan Rogers, seem to fit that, along with Bellingham.
I honestly think he's better than them and only Rogers is playing well, especially if you want a player to change a game with a goal or assist but that's just my opinion.

I would feel much better if we had Shaw, Stones Palmer and MGW in this squad. That would be a good squad imo, the actual squad is okay.
