Southampton spying compendium thread

If that happens you'll have every club in the play offs doing it. They brought this rule in specifically because they didn't like what Bielsa did, anything less than throwing Southampton out of the play offs encourages everyone to do it. Clubs get thrown out for admin errors with player eligibility, no reason this should carry a lessor punishment.
If there's no sporting penalty, then its not banned. Its just allowable for a fee.

The biggest disgrace would be to move the final to the middle of next week. Hull fans would be out of pocket, some not able to attend due to work commitments. The spying took place 12 days ago and the EFL knew pretty much straight away. To not get this sorted earlier is an utter shambles and not acceptable.

Totally agree. That's whuly Hull should just go up.

For all their spying and whatever, Boro had 2 bites of the cherry and really should have put the 2nd leg beyond Southampton, but they wasted their chances.

To me, the fairest thing to do now is to just award it to Hull and then they can take their time in whatever extra punishment they want to dish out to Southampton.

No.

It's nothing to do with Hull. Southampton cheated before a game with Boro. So Southampton should be disqualified and that means Boro go to the final.

I'm not even surprised though. We had a game called off with 15 minutes to spare due to something they'd known about all day (the infamous ice in the technical area incident). Same again?

Swindon cheated before their playoff semi. That result stood and the other finalist got promoted.

They are lucky to have found a panel plus space at the IDRC in such short period of time.

They are never going to scrap the final. While they might not give a toss about the fans with last minute match re-arrangement and the additional cost implications, it would mean the EFL losing out on the TV, ticket, sponsors money etc

Be next Wednesday night no doubt.

That's where the punishment will get more severe. If they find themselves in a position where the panel suggest Southampton be disqualified but let the semi outcome stand.

Messing with their money, I bet it would be a record points deduction for next season.

Just put them in L2 plus points deduction.
