They were beaten over the two legs. That is 210 minutes of football. Are they REALLY saying that the ‘spying’ before the first leg affected both legs and the extra-time at Southampton?
Naaah….that is a feeble argument at best.

Punish Southampton for their indiscretions, but the final must take place on the correct date, just as our play-off final v Swindon did.

Boro's claim for me became frivolous when they decided to play the games against Southampton and essentially legitimised them. You can't cry wolf afterwards. You either feel unjust and refuse to play until it's resolved or you suck it up.

It would have been resolved immediately, by their expulsion I'd imagine.

I know, but Boro are involved as the supposed ‘victim’.

The only other option is to hand the promotion to Hull without a final being played.
Can you really see the EFL chucking away the “richest match in the world”?

No, sorry….but to me the only fair way forward is to play the final at the weekend as planned and punish Southampton afterwards.

If you don’t agree, we’ll just have to agree to differ.
The correct outcome to this would be for Hull to beat Southampton in the final and get promoted to the Premier….and Saints to get a big fine and a huge points deduction at the beginning of the 26/27 Championship season.

Well they have history of being punished for refusing to play a fixture with the food poisioning i think against blackburn. You cant blame Boro for playing when theyve been punished for not playing in the past

But seem to remember if they’d played theydve stayed up

I explained a bit further in a later post.
The issue is how much it impacted on their knowledge of boro not the fact that they broke a law so the question is about how much boro will gain from the punishment to Southampton.
Southampton will and should be punished, no doubt about that.
But should boro benefit from it? That is the question.
 
For all we know they may even have approached the EFL about postponing/cancelling the Soton game in which case I could see them getting fobbed off with a 'let's sort it out afterwards' response.
EFL really need a dosier of other clubs hard evidence of the Soton Spy Ring which I doubt they will have. Telling the EFL you think Soton spied on them earlier in the season doesn't really cut it.

That’s like literally what I’ve said the entire thread.
 
Easiest way is let Southampton play and totally fuck them with the refereeing under orders . VAR is that shit this season no one could say its unusual . Maintains the revenue of the fixture , lets the EFL of the litigation hook and theyre then free to dock them massive points for all the bother they've caused .
Few would raise a hue and cry about Southampton getting mugged off on the day

He was clearly acting under instruction so the people who have instructed him to go up to Boro cant be throwing him under the bus. The amount of pressure this kid must be under will be awful. Im not condoning what Southampton have done and i think they should be kicked out of the Play Off for cheating but this young lad MUST be looked after and not made a scapegoat. He must have been acting under instruction so for this young lads sake I hope those that sent him are big enough to stand up and take the wrap for it.

Just checked the statcat as I thought it was the same season as our 40 point relegation. They went down on 39 points, had they won the fixture, Coventry would have went down instead. They cheated that day as well (Coventry)as their KO was delayed by about 15 minutes to allow their supporters to get in.
