It's not his career. He only played about 200 club games, won a grand total of 2 trophies. Played about a dozen games for England - never made it to an international tournament. By contrast, Wayne Rooney played around 3 times as many club games, 10 times as many international games.

And maybe I'm missing something, but he doesn't strike me as a very good broadcaster either. Zero insight, a Soccer AM-standard banter merchant.

When he's not fake laughing, behaving like a 12 year old or can keep the decibels under 85 he can be quite insightful.

Unfortunately this only happens for an average of 5.7 seconds every broadcast so it's a no from me.

Aye seems so, canny shite that tbf there’s something World Cupie about seeing the studio in a foreign country. Watching the German World Cup from that square looked class for example. People sitting in a studio in Manchester won’t have the same feel for the tournament. Hopefully itv are sending people over.

They aren’t pundits, they are broadcasters or presenters depending on what you want to call them.
