Southampton spying compendium thread

What if one of the inquiry panel has a question about their evidence?
It’s also only fair that southamptons advocate has the opportunity to challenge Boro’s evidence through questioning. It’s basic principles of justice. Are they just accepting everything boro say at face value?
I dunno mate. Not part of the panel.

But im sure you at least agree trying to sway the EFL's decision by way of that press release is wrong.

This is stating the obvious but this has the potential to be hugely messy.

Behind the scenes, I bet the EFL are in a flap and desperate to hammer Southampton

Doesn’t matter what the EFL do , other clubs will not agree with the decision and seek to take it further legally.

It’s an absolute can of worms .

Damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

I don’t think they released his card details. Just that he had used his card and it therefore confirmed his identity. There’s no problem with that.

It’s not ideal, no. Would’ve been better if the efl had initiated an inquiry immediately and asked boro for all of their evidence. Maybe that didn’t happen and boro felt they had to get the evidence out there. Or maybe boro are just being whingey tw*ts.
I prefer open and honest but that doesn’t always happen.

Be a different story if they’d been spying on one of the big 6. We know which way the Board would have gone then. Same offence but different outcome. But an irrelevant Club up North will be dismissed as minor incident.

I’m not that arsed about boro getting back into the playoffs, but I don’t think there can be any situation that Southampton can be allowed to go up if they’re found guilty of cheating.

It sends out a message saying it’s worth it.

Indeed.

Break the rules and cheat.
Get a £200k or even a £500k fine as punishment.
Pick up £150m to £200m in the PL.
Lovely Jubbly, as Del Trotter would say.

If Southampton get away with it, then going forwards other clubs will think the reward is worth the punishment.

If the maximum punishment alliwed is getting kicked out , or a 3-0 default loss, then hit them with it to deter others pulling the same stunt in future.

I'd bet money Eckert won't have a 62.5% win rate next season... if he's still there.

There’s a lot of opinion that boro should not play in the final as they didn’t play very well against Southampton. I don’t think that’s the point. Southampton are being punished for cheating. It’s nothing to do with how well boro played against them. Also were Boro poor because Southampton nullified them after discovering their plans through watching their training sessions?
“Right tonda, I’ve watched them train and what we need to do is let Conway have the ball. He can’t shoot for toffee”

On the contrary as far as I can see the vast majority of fans on here are supportive of the Boro position despite the supposed rivalry. I think you should remember that in future when you're off on one. As far as the statement goes I really doubt that serves them very well. They are trying to influence the investigation from the outside and are expecting that using an expensive lawyer will sway it in their direction while the investigation is in full swing. Seems like a mis-step to me.
This. That statement is very poor and could be a mistake.
