Sorry like but that’s not how modern football works. It’s surely naive to suggest coaches don’t try certain things to nullify and exploit an opponent, even if you could tell us the line up now.

RLB and our lot have shown that this season, along with the many other coaches and teams.

Can we prove that it didnt? It only takes them to have contracted one set piece, for it to have changed the result. Boro were poor after the first half hour mind, and knackered at the end. Southampton will just get a slap on the wrist, and get away with it.
 
The margins between winning and loseing in the football are often tiny. We've seen it ourselves for years - last minute freak goals to equalize, VAR decisions that rule out or don't give vital decisions in tight games etc.
Marginal gains is very real and has a significant imact on most sports today.

Why will it be happening all the time, if it doesn't affect the result?

The FL simply have to prove that Southampton actually cheated and that's all. At the moment the club are admitting that the Analyst was at the Boro training, but that he did so without Southampton's consent or involvement. The FL just need to prove the club sanctioned it and participated in the spying.

I don’t think the EFL will look into it from the angle of ‘did it affect the game to a reasonable doubt’. In my opinion, they’ll only look at if one of Southampton’s employees was at the training ground on that day. EFL regulation 127 prohibits “observing, or attempting to observe another clubs training session 72 hours prior to kickoff”. That’s all Boro will need to nail Southampton to the wall

I genuinely don't see why they even need to do that ... he's a club employee, he knows the rules and the club are ultimately responsible. That may seem harsh, but it can't be any other way.

Oh no they wouldn’t ;)

Seriously, difficult one to sanction if guilty because no single option will satisfy everyone. Football justice can be imperfect. Precedents are Leeds but also Palace/Cardiff circa 2015 IIRC. One thing to remember is these things do go to independent disciplinary panels so it won’t be “the EFL” who judge and sanction.

Tricky. Rogue employee acting unilaterally and going totally off-piste on some wild mission, without his employer's knowledge.

Yeah my post was more in response to another poster suggesting that this would open Southampton up to litigation from all of the other clubs in the league. Tbh though I was getting myself confused and it’s safe to say I’m no jurisprudent.

Hard to make that stick. The information gleaned from spying has to be passed on to someone organising coaching.

Yeah, I am not suggesting it. Talking about whether Southampton would be liable for his actions in any event, even IF he had acted alone.
