Southampton spying compendium thread

They will get a fine end of.

Whilst not condoning it on any level at all, the spy didn’t make boro play completely shite and lose .
Why do people keep mentioning boros performance when it comes to this ? Whether they played well or shit has nothing to do with it. Their performance could have been affected by Southampton having knowledge of their tactics / game plan / line up etc.. and failing all of that the fact Southampton cheated in an attempt to gain an advantage is the issue, nothing else.

Playing devils advocate though. What if the spy managed to map out all of their set piece routines?

Boro seemed very ineffective in the air, and yet Taggart was playing some loveley dead balls into the box, and so what it the spy resulted in Southampton being able to not concede where they otherwise would have if they hadn’t known Boro’s routines in advance?

Haway man.

Did you actually watch the game ?

Did you watch the game ? They were battered .

Like hull will batter them.

Teams do signals all the time, one arm up, rub the grass etc.. they’re all signals to the players where the ball is going and what free kick routine they’re working. Even for Southampton to know that is absolutely massive.

The body language, and the way he upped and left the presser suggests ( to me, anyway) that Eckert knows a lot more about this than he cares to admit.

Perhaps he really is some Wunderkind who's gone from absolutely zero managerial experience and being an under 21 coach to a 3 times manager of the month winner in 6 months, with a 62.5% win rate..... some transformation if so.

Perhaps not though...... ?

Interesting days ahead for him and the club.
He comes across as a proper wanker. His reaction to being told Hardwood Bellis mocked Ayling's stammer is all you need to know. He's squirmed every single question he's been asked as well

It doesn't matter how boro played. They could have changed all the tactics they had worked on throughout the week thinking Southampton knew their tactics specifically for that game. Its cheating whichever way you look at it . What level of cheating is debatable but its cheating and against the rules.

You can't say aye they cheated but it didn't affect the game. If they didn't think it would affect tbe game surely they wouldnt have put themselves into a position to try to gain an advantage against the rules and then try to cover it up.

The more I think of it the more I can't see the EFL not dishing out punishment more than a fine as if the crime profits out weigh the punishment then everyone will continue to tey their luck at cheating.

Saints get promoted. Guaranteed 200 plus million, but get a fine of say 2 million compared to Leeds 200k fine. Its a no trainer to try amd even of it just unsettled the opposition. Job done

“Battered” but yet still only lost to one goal very late into extra time.

What if in an alternate reality where they spying hadn’t happed, Boro scored a goal from a set piece routine that a non-cheating Southampton didn’t know how to defend?

Yes Southampton played better on the night, but they still needed a fluky late goal in extra time to seal the tie off

I reiterate , I’m not condoning it.

If Everton had a spy here this week it won’t affect our result this weekend man.

I can tell you our line up now !!!!!

What happens if in the first minute a players sent off ? Or injured and all set ups change.

It’s a cry for help man, they fucked up in the regular season when they looked nailed on to go up automatically and have been rinsed for months .

This “spy” thing will be happening all the time man.

The ramifications could go far beyond the playoff and who is promoted. If proven (when proven) guilty, other championship clubs can rightly bring their own (or collective) cases against Southampton for loss of earnings if they can show they were also spied upon. The case could go on for months, if not a year or two, and will possibly result in an out of court settlement reaching millions. The f*ck up is monumental.

That’s the bit that makes me think that Southampton may actually get away with it; how do you prove beyond all reasonable doubt that Southampton’s cheating actually effected the outcome of their matches?

Then why do it, if there isn't an advantage to be gained?

It does affect it, it absolutely 100% does. Let’s say Everton know all our free kick routines and signals so let’s look at this.

Free kick to us.
Xhaka raises 2 arms.
This signals -
Mukiele, alderete, Hume all to run to front post
Reinildo, sadiki to run to back post
Defenders follow the players
Xhaka plays it square to le fee who’s now got the whole goal open to him.

Now, if Everton know this signal and this routine they’re in a massive advantage to know what’s happening and able to defend accordingly leaving the players to do their runs and ultimately cutting out the actual danger which is enzo le fee.

If it wont affect the game why do it? why would you break the rules of the game and have the bloke ready with a change of clothes to get away undetected?

Its cheating and against the rules. Im not sticking up for boro amd hopedillwall or hull went up tbh but as an outsider its not right to get away with that.

Teams plan all week on set pieces to catch out the oppsition. How many times do you hear commentators say thats something they have obviously worked on the training ground. It helps when you know what they have worked on especially now so many goals are scored from set pieces
