Southampton spying compendium thread

The funny thing is that before last season's play-offs Coventry and Sheffield United clearly didn't do any homework on us at all.

Even today they still think that we lost our last five fixtures simply because we were crap. I don't think that they ever caught on to the fact that the Club had taken the Lads to Portugal for a week before our final fixture with Oxford.
Our final fixture was QPR. DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Could you imagine a thread on a boro forum with numerous boro fans crying about Sunderland not getting promoted or how much a disgrace it is etc etc? No,neither could i…get a grip man will some of yas 🙄

Some of us are capable of thinking logically and being sporting and putting aside partisan loyalty… particularly when it doesn’t affect us.

Your sad if what Boro does effects you anyway… Boro are just a small club in Yorkshire 😜

Should have just offered them to concede the play off game v Boro...or if they wanted to contest it the punishment would be relegation to League 1 if found guilty.

Makes the sport a joke and damages the integrity of the competition if they end up in the PL with a daft fine. Blatant cheating against the rules should be severely punished imo.

Do people seriously think teams just do the exact same things every game and don't change stuff depending on who they're playing?

i can just imagine the set piece coach drilling them all week, like a finely tuned machine, all the moving pieces falling into place perfectly for every ball swung in...

...come the game, first corner...hits the first man

they have to come down hard if its proven. Otherwise everyone will be at it

It's football...all fans of all clubs should want teams to be punished adequately if they break the rules. Whether it's Boro or anyone else who is victim of it doesn't bother me.

It does beg the question have they being doing this since the new bloke came in? Their form took off, while it might not have played a big part they did turn around their season and now it all feels a bit iffy. If boro have evidence they have done it to two others then they’ve probably been doing it for sometime.
If the spying gains next to nowt according the self proclaimed expert football managers on here, why would a club risk such potential harsh punishments for next to no gain?

Makes you think!

I can imagine you get a look at all sorts when you spy on a team in training. Set pieces, who maybe injured, set up, formation changes, etc etc if they’ve been doing since the new bloke came in and teams weren’t aware then they’ll have gained an advantage. It’s proper iffy like when a result could fall on an inch, having more information than your opponent is a clear advantage.

Don't envy the position the EFL are in here like, they're most likely going to be taken to court by at least one of the concerned parties no matter what decision they come to. What a shitshow.

Its baffling, yet not surprising, that whilst they have a rule book and when the rules are broken, they dont know the sanctions immediately.

Imagine if you're not a regular penalty taker and not knowing if your practice pens have been recorded. That's got to be lurking in the back of your mind going into extra time.

Maybe that's why Fry let the ball sail in...he couldn't handle the thought of missing the crucial penalty.
