Southampton spying compendium thread

Giving them a points deduction in the Premier League along with 200 million pounds in their bank is hardly a deterrent
They don’t get £200m in their bank account on promotion (the quoted figure is spread over three years through PL TV money and associated parachutes if relegated) and yes it would. If you know that you’ll get penalised with a points deduction it makes staying up next to impossible so why bother? Yes the finances, but if you stay up then that £200m turns into at least £350m with the extra season in the league and a third year of parachutes.

Nowt much happens in training anyway. A game of cross bar challenge and piggy in the middle is not going to give the game away.

All of the real tactics are discussed on the teams WhatsApp group.

Why can't they? They could potentially earn hundreds of millions from cheating that has sporting consequences, allowing them to only have a points deduction after that seems worthwhile for the club
A points deduction would relegate them. No club in future is going to risk a points deduction. They’d not award Boro a 3-0 win if it had been a normal league game.

Give them a points deduction whatever league they’re in next season. That’s deterrent enough. If this was a league game, there’s no way Boro would have been awarded a 3-0 walkover. Boro had 210 minutes to win the tie. They couldn’t.
PL probably won't want to enforce EFL decisions.

They won’t do it because a team starting the season on minus points basically ruins the relegation battle and devalues the product.
Why not? They cheated ahead of a play off game, got to get the book thrown at them to deter other clubs in the future. Imagine the free-for-all in the future if they get a slap on the wrist.
Give them a points deduction. Teams aren’t going to do it if they know even if they get promoted they’ll start next season on minus points, making survival virtually impossible. Boro still had 210 minutes to win the tie and there’s no way anyone would be asking for a 3-0 forfeit in a league game.

Coventry's run of 11 games, 8 wins, 2 draws and one defeat. Hmmm wonder who that was to.

A bit unfair if Hull were promoted in their place when it was Boro they got the advantage over through cheating. It's going to get awkward though as they haven't been found guilty of anything yet, only charged, so the play off final really has to go ahead. If they win the final then are found guilty it would be canny unfair Hull getting promoted when it was Boro they beat though spying on them and cheating.

It's a nightmare situation for the efl to sort out.

The fact it has been across the season and all clubs have effectively suffered means they could take the stance of denying them promotion if they win and promoting Hull instead.
Pretty sure that’s what will happen, same as us in 1990

The funny thing is that before last season's play-offs Coventry and Sheffield United clearly didn't do any homework on us at all.

Even today they still think that we lost our last five fixtures simply because we were crap. I don't think that they ever caught on to the fact that the Club had taken the Lads to Portugal for a week before our final fixture with Oxford.
