Latest boxing crack

Ben Davison getting a lot of stick from ex pro's and commentators for not pulling Wardley out.
Whilst he probably should have pulled him out it was a difficult one for both Davison and the ref . Wardley has been in situations like this and pulled it out the bag and he was still fighting back . The fight was also for the biggest prize in sport so it’s not like it’s some area title for a couple of grand .

I would have agreed if he was looking like he might drop Dubois in the latter rounds but his knockdowns were rounds 1 and 3

By the 11th there didn’t seem much chance of that happening.

I get it’s the world belt he was defending but he took way too much for my liking. Davison could see better than anyone what stick he was taking

Is there a chance of Josh Kelly fighting at the SOL this summer like it was rumoured? I’m clueless on boxing like but was at his fight in Saudi and would like to go if it happens.

I love brutal violence in boxing - but last 4/5 minutes was uncomfortable.
Wardley did catch DDD a few times in later rounds but little effect at this stage and seeing him wobble all over at end of I think the 10th was the stage I thought it obvious for everyone.

Wardley has lost a few years with some of his recent fights - his chin is way more talented than his fists.😱

Looking like it will be at the arena again late July/early August if the latest rumours are right.

Mental really , but a very tough ome for Davison. I'd have pulled him out if I was in his corner, but easy to say when you aren't the one making the decision that will lose a man his belt.

He's been badly outboxed in a couple of other fights , but found a way to win. It's just hard to watch when you know the long term damage those extra punches can have when his defence was close to non existent.

Probably the right move for Wardley.

Big payday
World title shot
Chance to avenge his one loss.

No one thought he'd get this far and most other fights won't bring more money so he may as well cash out fully, if he loses the return.

I'm concerned at how much damage he took.

For Dubois however, I think it's the right move.

His realistic options were Wardley 2, Moses or Kabayel.

I think he wins only one of those three.

Not really. He was hoping for a big name opponent but everyone realistic is signed up.

Keeping in mind how hard he found selling tickets at the Beacon, he needed a major name, primarily Conor Benn to do the SOL.

No, the plan was to tempt Conor Benn to the SOL as he's a big name and will sell tickets but not a particularly great boxer. Benn turned it down. The problem for Kelly is the biggest names at super welter are considerably bigger names than him and he'd have to go to their backyard as the b-side but he isn't big enough himself to sell out the SOL against the ones below him. Benn was ideal for that. So it'll be the arena for him next.
