Southampton spying compendium thread

Not Southampton fans fault but imagine there could be a bit chew around the Riverside today. As a saints fan at the game it will surely be very difficult to be up for it, imagine how gutted and disappointed they will feel.

Aye it’s a long way to come, to spend that time and money after going through all the emotions of the season to know that whatever happens today you’re not winning promotion. Sickening for them really.

They reckon this isnt the only time they have done it this season so it makes me wonder if that ridiculous unbeaten run they went on was as a result of this high level form of cheating. How many other clubs are now reviewing CCTV? This has potential to rumble on and on.
Aye, no mark back room boy takes dog shit team on insane unbeaten run and 3 successive manager otm awards.

Can see Southampton in League One if they find they've been at it for months.

Surely Southampton, especially after the fantastic run they have had, don't have to resort to spying. I cannot see how their actions can improve their chances of defeating a fellow Championship side. It is a storm in a tea cup when compared with the blatant cheating within the game, both on and off the field: Manchester City's financial doping, players diving for penalties and, on a different tack, the constant switching of kick-off times at short notice that inconvenience supporters.
Are you having a laugh?
With the attention to detail and analysis in the modern game this could be a big advantage to Southampton.

Leeds got a 200k fine after Bielsa admitted they had spied on every team they had faced that season. Southampton will probably get a similar fine.

There were no laws about spying in place then so Leeds weren't charged with what Southampton have been. A fine is possible as it's listed in the punishments but so are a raft of other much harsher penalties. Such as being expelled from the league altogether.

The EFL changed the rules after that incident.
They didn't have any rules for it when Leeds did it. The rules they have now about potential points deductions and the like were done as a result of that

They’ll just have to get promoted and the EFL can’t do anything until they are relegated. As happened with Leicester.

And the other championship clubs just accept that do they? You are the EFL, option 1 apply the rules and expel Southampton from the play offs (as a minimum). Theres no fuss or come back as it's the competition rules. Or option 2, do nowt then get sued to high heaven by Boro, Wrexham and numerous others.

They have to be kicked out of the play offs, I can't imagine for a second it's the only time they have done this. How many points have they unfairly gained to make it into the play offs? It's blatant cheating, they simply can't be promoted
This. If they’ve been doing it for a while how many points have they got on that basis that’s have put them in the playoffs? How many other teams have they stopped getting into the playoffs (Wrexham are one). I’d like to see Arsenal wade in anarl.

The EFL aren’t going to expel them out of the play offs. Is there any evidence they’ve done this before?
