BBC Remembering 2012 - why Sunderland away means more to Man Utd than normal

I thought us doing it was weird like. There had been no hostility between us

I was looking forward to the helicopter landing with the trophy as well!
I didn't do the Poznan, and I wanted Man Utd to win the league (albeit wasn't hugely fussed).

But it isn't that unusual for fans of one team to take the piss out of the away fans that are there. It happens every game all over the place.

The way Man Utd go on about it, you'd think we'd broke into their homes and spray painted "AGUEROOOO" on the walls, the absolute set of set wipes.

I was in the SWC and I applauded the Man Utd players and fans for winning the Title…..until….the news came through of City’s winner.
Then I laughed and joined in with the Poznan (I’m on the photo).
It was funny and simply what any opposing fan would do. I have ZERO regrets about doing it.

IT
WAS
FUNNY

AND….it still is.

At their end of seasons awards that season fergie made a big deal about it and said they would never forget the incident..whatever that means 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

From BBC Sport.

Remembering how Sunderland fans laughed at visitors Manchester United in 2012 when Sergio Aguero's goal snatched the Premier League title away from them.

Typical bias from the Manchester-based BBC.

"Sir Alex [Ferguson] was down. He was annoyed at the added time" - there's irony for you 🤣 🤣

My mate was in united end and was gutted for him like . however United did blow a big lead . Should never have gone to final game of season , they can’t have expected not to have received bit of stick .would have happened at any other ground .

I remember coming out of Old Trafford after the 0-0 at the end of the 15 point season and all the Man Utd fans taking the piss out of our relegation.

Got to be big enough to take it when you give it out.

Exactly this.

Fuck them

Separates the grown adults from the man children if you're getting wound up over something so trivial that most fans would do in that situation

What is often forgotten about this season is that we took the most points from Man City, 4 and should have been 6. No other team managed it. Man u took 6 points off us.. So, Man u only have themselves to blame. We actually "helped" them more than any other team in the league. Typical Ferguson gas lighting the fans and media, something he was good at. Carrick is just a bitter mag, smoggy twat like.
You forgot "cockney" twat - he started off at West Ham...

Written by the chief man u botter at the BBC, looks like he is the one who is still bitter about this and wants to have a gripe while fluffing carrick the soppy get.

Blame Fergie and his bleating / deflection tactics at the time. Started going on about all he'd done for us in loaning out Welbeck and Evans, etc.

As said elsewhere, it was a huge upset and story in football at the time and - given the arrogance from that club previously - hardly unexpected.

It's just clickbait from the BBC.
