BBC Remembering 2012 - why Sunderland away means more to Man Utd than normal

From BBC Sport.

Remembering how Sunderland fans laughed at visitors Manchester United in 2012 when Sergio Aguero's goal snatched the Premier League title away from them.

What is often forgotten about this season is that we took the most points from Man City, 4 and should have been 6. No other team managed it. Man u took 6 points off us.. So, Man u only have themselves to blame. We actually "helped" them more than any other team in the league. Typical Ferguson gas lighting the fans and media, something he was good at. Carrick is just a bitter mag, smoggy twat like.

a set of fans who have seen their club win every single competition for decades, dominated the english game and having one of the best sides in world football for a long, long time.... upset by fans of a club who's biggest achievement was a 7th placed finish and double relegation.

if any genuine man united fan is actually upset about this then they are an absolute virgin

I remember coming out of Old Trafford after the 0-0 at the end of the 15 point season and all the Man Utd fans taking the piss out of our relegation.

Got to be big enough to take it when you give it out.
Yep. Incidentally, always remember a Man United fan with a southern accent shouting "Shut up you northern kernts" at our fans outside after the game.

They also forget there were big sarcastic cheers when QPR equalised and took the lead and people were applauding Man United at the final whistle when it looked like they were champions. It wasn't personal to them.

Exactly.

Fans who for years have sung “you’ve only come to see United,” yet they think people weren’t gonna take the piss out of them losing the league.

Most of their fans just show faux outrage because Ferguson made a big deal out of it and they think it makes them a better Man Utd fan if they blithely parrot his view on it.

Cannot believe they're still waffling on about that man. Set of fannies.

On a different note though, am I right in thinking that was the last game the away fans sat in the South Stand?

It’s quite funny how bitter they are about that, feels like it got blown way out of proportion. Any other team’s supporters would have took the piss in the same way, and it wasn’t exactly the whole stadium doing the Poznan.
I thought us doing it was weird like. There had been no hostility between us

I was looking forward to the helicopter landing with the trophy as well!

We actually took FIVE points from City (in two games that they expected to win).
We drew in Manchester (two points dropped by City) and beat them at the SOL (three points dropped by City) 👍🏻

Man Utd lost that Title due to their own shortcomings.
We did more against City than THEY managed!

My mate was looking forward to seeing the trophy lifted, said we'd likely not get another chance to see it.

Of course he was right but of course we did the Poznan. They need to lighten up.
