I’m old enough to remember August 2025

I am a glass half empty sort of guy and not ashamed to say it. Can’t help it it’s just the way it is, I’m an overly reactive pr!ck when we drop points, especially with a drink in me.

Supported the club all my days and seen the lot.
I was at the final v Sheffield United and I’d have ‘killed’ for how this season has panned out at the time 🙌

The good old days when the cry was, it could be a struggle, so we will need to get behind the team and support them.

It’s never been a struggle, a newly promoted side that came up via the play offs have never been anywhere near the relegation zone.

Yet some, are throwing their toys, out of the pram all over the place.

They are the usual suspects, nothing will ever please them, if I’m honest, it boils my piss.

Don’t worry.

You never get 100% of people thinking the same 100% of the time and it’s not reasonable to think otherwise.

We could be in the champions league next season and you’d get the same sort of odd dissenter. In fact I’d expect a similar visible split.

I think people need to chill out, including the OP! 😂

Mid table was above my wildest dreams in August.

*some” seem to forget that whoever we play in the Premier League, their squads probably cost so much more than ours.

Does cost mean best probably not, but, other than the three teams promoted, all of the rest are established PL teams, with more experience of competing at this level.

We’ve competed against and beaten/drawn had decent results against many of those established teams.
Yeah absolutely. Very few of our players had Premier League experience, and more to the point neither did our Coach.
Of course he has made mistakes, and I’m sure he would admit that, but he’s learning all the time.
I’m sure he’ll come back an even better next season, as will the players

We're still getting into Europe, but well said!

Are many people throwing their toys out of the pram though?

I just think some are frustrated that we have europe for the taking and have not been performing of late. Ballard was at fault ultimately yesterday, if we'd had eleven men, we'd have won that and been laughing.

Aye, accepted, OP needs to chill. 😄

But I’ll never apologise for calling out those who whinge and moan, given where we were and where we are now.

Look at the thread title. Tell me you didn’t think the same

What if 99% of the time they’re sound and cheer on the lads and then 1% of the time they decide to type something a bit critical about the teams performance?

I mean - do they really need calling out?

As I say - I just think chill 🧘‍♂️ 😉

People have been throwing their toys out the pram since we lost to Liverpool at home. There was genuine anger that we 'showed them too much respect and didn't get stuck into them' in a narrow 1-0 defeat against the reigning champions in a game where their £100m playmaker ran the show.

You could go back and include Brentford and West Ham too but we followed both of those up with wins.

I don't think Europe was there for the taking either - we were 10th after we beat Spurs then lost to both the Europa League semi finalists and drew with Wolves where, like you say, we'd have won if we hadn't played with 10 men for 70 minutes. Meanwhile Brighton were the form side in the league and were ahead of us and pushing for Europe but just lost to the Mags who were completely out of form. Bournemouth are about 15 games undefeated, Brentford have lost 2 in 12 and Chelsea have spent gazillions. We were very much outsiders to pip them to a European spot - and are still only 4 points off. There aren't any easy games in this league anymore - we were supposed to be the easy game for everyone else - it just baffles me why people have to be so reactive and can't see the bigger picture.

I had to love this post, I loved it so much in fact, listen, I’m a daft US cit, but not because I love Sunderland, but for other reasons, I was 16, I saw Nedum Omaha lols, Onuha casually roll a dagger into Petr Cech & I though fucj, those people in the 2nd lvl at Stanford bridge vis f***ing love the lot they follow, let me get involved with that, Steve Bruce, O’Neil - did well, Di Canio, somewhere in here is Micheal Bridges 😭 it’s ok lad you tried, Di Canio, fucj those times made nostalgia, Wickham at city, Vito became cult,, flowers for Mrs Advocaat, BIG FUCK YOU UP THE ASS NEWCASTLE SAM HAHAHAHA, fabs leg, Seb7, leg, Sebastian Coates legend, - Brad Lowery, god rest his soul, Jermaine, 4-0 at Palace

Ohhh Villa losing to spurs just now cost me 2,000 in the Bahamas after I bet Manu & Cheeries to win

Sooo this is my therapy

On the flip side tho plenty I bet thought we’d go onto better things when Reid had us flying and it went pear shaped pretty quickly, point being you have to take your chances when they present themselves, absolutely no guarantees in football especially as a safc fan

Janey you love to stir it.
Fact is you're right in that we would all have settled for what we have.
Fact is we have all seen enough recently to set the alarm bells off
We are entitled to be worried about our recent form and poor performances.
Quite simply if that continues next season we are in the shit.
So. We are relying on good recruitment to improve this team from a man who doesn't always get recruitment right.
Fans are quite right and entitled to comment on our poor recent form.

TOTALLY AGREE BUT! I still believe the Fans who moan are similar to players who get subbed & kick chairs or punch the dug out plastic windows, its just they want to win but not very patient if they dont win its a Marathon not a Sprint ..But obviously there is Always odd fans who dont Realise we played Joey Bartons Fleetwood Town just over 4yrs Ago in League One.

No arguing I love a bit of stirring 😄

Recent performances have been a bit worrying, but if we’d performed poorly in the early stages of the season and been left bricking it and sweating on, a relegation battle, and survived which we’ve all seen before it’d be squeezy bum time. We haven’t had squeezy bum time for a whole season.

I think we need to wait and see what happens transfer wise, for next season. Hopefully a squad strength, that helps us push on.

Look at the thread title. Tell me you didn’t think the same
I thought we'd stay up, purely based on what I'd heard live from Speakman and Bruce, how they talked about KLD and specifically how ambitious he is. I thought it would be tough however, I suppose everyone did.

That's not to say expectations can't change though surely? This was the issue before, fans constantly pouring water on expectations, where did that get us? I agree however the criticism from some is over the top, but I think it's a minority and not really worth mentioning.

Agree with that and yes easy to get carried away. Also disappointed with recent results but need to remind myself of expectations before the season started so I’ll take whatever position we finish in with happiness. HWTL
