Ballard

There should be a rule to differentiate between a hair pull and getting tangled/pulled accidentally. It to me coming into a football field to play contact sport with dreadlocks is a joke. Would we feel for a turner who got his hair caught in a lathe and caused injury? Would we fuck. Player doesn’t have long hair it doesn’t happen.

Worst thing about the whole thing is that donkey is nearly 7 foot, built like an out house and went down like he’d been shot.

How do players not laugh at fuckers doing that

Barely got any shirt tbf

If that was Adam Armstrong he wouldn't have been struggling physically and needed to do it.

If you look at the image on the daily mirror site that was also posted ballards fist is gripping his hair and a small amount of his shirt a good two inches above the blokes shoulder. What do you think Ballard knew he had hold of at that point?

The hair pull rule is a shambles and inconsistent. But then we know this ref has form for it too.
So you honestly believe when challenging for the ball Ballards first intention was to grab his hair, I mean come on? If we wanted to pull his hair only, a shirt is unlikely to be involved at all

He simply put his hand out to grab the shirt nothing more, nothing less. Every defender on the pitch today was doing exactly the same, the unfortunate thing is the kid has got long hair.

Ballard would have defended in exactly the same manner against any other player.

To your point about still having hold of it as the challenge moves on, that is just a reactionary thing in a literal split second. The picture you’ve referred to is exactly the worst moment of the whole challenge, you’re building a case based on the end not the beginning.

Think it would be genuinely funny if all the players went out and got hair extensions with dreadlocks during the week

It’s a red card no doubt according to the laws of the game.

But it was accidental
I really don't understand why would a hair grab should be necessary a red card. More dangerous tackles that could end a football career are only a yellow, but you can't touch the hair. WTF is that?! It's just a random part of the body, not a vital organ.

I completely agree, but them’s the rules currently.

Hopefully this sort of thing gets reviewed long term.
