Away Teams Hotel

Wise SMB, help settle an argument.

I was talking to a Newcastle fan earlier who insisted that away teams always stay in Newcastle when playing at the SOL.

Whilst this might have been the case last time we were in the Prem, I argued this is no longer the case.

Who’s correct?
Why would you argue about something you don’t know the answer to

You are both wrong as Durham is the most common location. Teams would generally prefer to stay far enough away from a stadium to create that mental separation if it’s a night before stay, like I imagine most teams would do for us given how far north we are from most PL teams. So it’s not uncommon for teams to stay away from the city they’re playing in. I bet we do the same at most away games too
It isn't. Almost all of them this year have stayed at the Quayside - usually Copthorne.

On par with the airport argument. Utterly irrelevant but something they regularly bring up to make themselves feel in someway superior

It makes sense for away teams to stay outside of Sunderland, the hotbed of NE Football for matches at the SOL.

You want the team relaxing pre match not staying in the belly of the beast.

Who cares really but many away sides stay in Durham at the Radisson .

How does one even find themselves in an ‘argument’ like this, and then feel the need to come to the internet for validation?

Grown blokes 😂😂

They used to stay at the marriott a lot. Its probably just down to what corporate account and deal they have for all their trips during the season. Unfortunately we still need more of the major operators to open a hotel in town
