Away Teams Hotel

one or two of the team buses have parked up at the Hilton in Washington just off the A1, i don't know if its just the drivers or the whole squad but its easy to get onto the A1231 from there and straight into the SOL.

Forest were in one by the copthorne last week.

Last time in prem raddison durham was often used (shared a lift with swansea players).

Aye theyve stayed there before. Years ago they stayed in the county in durham, remember arsenal being in there. Not sure what standard that place is now like. I think theyve even had them in at redworth past aycliffe

Both incorrect

They stay in Durham
They don't, near enough every away team this season has stayed on Newcastle quayside. My mates son is an autograph collector and goes up every match day morning when the teams are out on their walk to get signatures.

But like others have pointed out, this is somehow a bragging/points scoring exercise for the unwashed, well, we have got the only 6 points that matter this season.

I can remember seeing the Aston Villa squad in the Grand Hotel in Seaburn years ago, Darren Bent was in their squad. It probably differs between every team.
Yes , going back a few years plenty of teams stayed at the Seaburn Marriott (I've seen Liverpool, Derby, West Brom, Fulham , Barnsley teams there, amongst others) but I doubt they'd stay at it's inferior successor "The Grand"

I'm sure I've seen pictures on socials of away teams on Newcastle quayside.

Mind you, I'm 99% certain Xhaka posted a picture of his family out for a walk on the town moor.
Correct. Taken just before his 90 minute stroll at Sid James's! 😀
Wise SMB, help settle an argument.

I was talking to a Newcastle fan earlier who insisted that away teams always stay in Newcastle when playing at the SOL.

Whilst this might have been the case last time we were in the Prem, I argued this is no longer the case.

Who’s correct?
And no doubt the sad tw@ reminded you which airport they fly into while he was at it. Jesus! 😱😱

Can’t enjoy those two Derby wins because airport and teams may chose to stay in a hotel not in Durham or Sunderland gutted.

Is this all you and ye mate have to talk about? Buy the game Cards Against Humanity to spice up your conversations in the future.

You are both wrong as Durham is the most common location. Teams would generally prefer to stay far enough away from a stadium to create that mental separation if it’s a night before stay, like I imagine most teams would do for us given how far north we are from most PL teams. So it’s not uncommon for teams to stay away from the city they’re playing in. I bet we do the same at most away games too
