Dearest @Becs can you please, please, please ask them about a statue for the club's top goal scorer and local lad Bobby Gurney.

It's utterly shameful how the club AND the local council too have appeared to have completely forgotten about him, his legacy at the club and the fact he still remains a club record holder decades after his final game for Sunderland. Everton have one, Bolton have one, Boro too and the mags have two ffs! Even though Milburn scored more goals.😉

The Legends Way thing is commendable but heavily weighted to players in our recent past while almost completely ignoring the clubs history and past achievements prior to 73.

As has been mentioned by others it's not representative enough of the club's historical icons and should have been a great promenade highlighting how important Sunderland was from it's beginnings right up to today as you move towards the stadium. Most people on the final list, while maybe more well known to modern era fans, barely warrant a page in the club's history books compared to some of the REAL legends who were missed.
Could put it next to Jill Scott's

Hi @Becs

Thanks for taking on this role and trawling for feedback.

May I just add my points.

Like many in here is was disappointed with the treatment of the fans before the Visitors game. It was a shame the club could not have provided a warning to the branch before they took action. The fact that so many fans were punished was shocking.

From my perspective, I’m a SCH who lives in Hampshire. Over the last few seasons I’ve attended about 70% of the home games. I can’t do them all for cost and time, especially with so many games not at 1500 on a Sunday. I’m happy with this as I want to support my club. The thing that worries me is that the club started talking about minimum attendances last season. I do worry I’ll be affected if this does come in.

One of the main reasons of having a SC is also to help with away tickets. I would have no means of watching us without a SC. I’m happy to take the financial hit of my SC for this.

I hope this helps. Thanks again for your time

It's a joke mate because she is one of the "legends" they're acknowledging on the new legends way.
Ahh, wasn't sure if she was top woman's goal scorer.

I'm not adverse to honouring important more modern figures or those from the women's game but not while ignoring record holders etc.

Her time with Sunderland was hardly her most successful period of her career anyway.

Yeah but she played 40 games for Sunderland women, over 2 season. 😂

To play devil's advocate, maybe it's what she's done for the women's game as a whole ? Didn't she win a lot with England and win that celebrity jungle thing ?

She's probably one of the most famous people currently knocking about from Sunderland

Devil-ing back, should we then include Jordan Pickford, England's most successful GK and MLF?

Or Charlotte Crosby? She's been on the telly abit.

Pretty sure she is Manchester based

Aye but she's from fulwell isn't she and is well known for being a Sunderland fan.

Not that it should warrant a bloody statue, but I don't think her getting onto this list is exclusively down to her achievements at SAFC women

She's probably the most well known women footballer in the country

Agreed. I don't think she should be up there but I can see why she is

Can you please ask which genius thought it was a good idea to withdraw the use of the executive box for next season from the Bradley Lowery Foundation even after they offered to pay for it?

I've already sent that to RAWA. Not sure if it's true or just internet rumours. I would find it very upsetting if it is true though.

Already complained about this, and will do again.

I'd also encourage anyone else who is annoyed by it to complain as well. Strength in numbers and all that.

Bobby Gurney was the most surprising omission IMO. They used his picture on all the promo material. Makes a mockery that he was used for adverts but doesn't actually get a stone.

The whole saga with the Legends thing is truly embarrassing, I bet some of the ballot winners are probably shocked too.

Our best years as a club were pre WW2 but, looking at the ballot resulrs, you wouldn’t know this.

Charlie Buchan was one of the most well known footballers in the world, not just Sunderland, in his time and yet no mention.

Get it sorted SAFC.

All of my purchase history and points were deleted last year. I’m an exile, no longer go each week as a job change has me working Saturday mornings a lot, but I used to get to a few home and away games a season when I could, I’ve been going to games for years. Now I’m effectively locked out.

When I asked why my points were deleted I was told “We moved systems back in June only purchase history from last year was converted over.” and when I questioned this further I was ignored.

I’m not expecting or even want to get tickets ahead of others that go regularly, but I don’t want to be blindly ignored when tickets are seemingly available and I want to buy one. The club don’t seem to care that they’ve locked out someone that’s been a fairly regular attendee since the early 80s
The only home games this season you needed purchase history from 24/25 were Mags and Leeds. Liverpool was originally then it changed to purchase history in the season.

So I don't understand how you were effectively locked out from home games this season?

You can also still get away tickets without having a ST or enough points as a ST you just run the risk of being tuned away with an ID check after having had the ticket passed on.

Losing people's purchaee history is a very valid point however. As it's caused issues for others.

Which absolute clownshoe came up with the idea of IDing away fans and banning them for passing tickets on, when there’s no other way to ‘legally’ get rid of your ticket? Do they expect us to lose out on any game we can’t attend anymore?

It’s expected that you won’t buy a ticket to pick up the points and allow another fan to attend - clearly

So if you buy a ticket and something pops up so you can’t attend anymore you have to lose out on the money you paid? Fair enough stopping people from building up points but that’s not the case for everyone.
