Zan Vipotnik (transfer rumour)

It's not though, as we loads (and enough) of young strikers who can improve exponentially but it's such an important position that we need an experienced option. It'll also help the young players to train with a player who has learned the tricks of the trade.
Our strikers are nowhere near ready though. This lad looks about 2 - 3 years ahead of them. Yes we need an experienced front man like a Mendy but we also need more than that. This kid or a Stansfield would bridge the gap for a couple of years by which time Mayenda might start to look like a player. Seems like we aren't interested in anyone other than Mendy at all for some mental reason.

We shouldn't be asking Hemir, Mayenda or any 22 year old to lead the line for us for an entire season. As well as the fact our tactics mean it's extremely hard work with lack of support, having to occupy both centre halves solo, running the channels, needing to be absolutely clinical and generally having to be an all round striker, there's also massive pressure on the shoulders of whoever ends up doing it due to us not having a proper one for a couple of years.

I don't know if Mendy is the answer and maybe there is a better option out there (who??) but on paper he has a better shot than the likes of Conway, Vipotnik, etc and will hopefully buy us a year or two while younger ones grow into the role and we find a more long term option.
22 year olds now aren’t what they were

England had 5 players of 22 and under at the Euros. Spain also had 5 including Williams and Yamal

Haaland is still only 24, Saka still 22, Hojlund is 21 etc etc

PSG just spent £50m+ on a 19 year old from Rennes

There is no reason why a bloke who is 23 mid season can’t lead the line. We of course need more than 1. But comparing this lad, international caps and all, with Mayenda at 19 (1 professional goal above France division 5) is a bit mad

This Vipotnik lad has made 117 senior appearances and scored 43 goals, including a couple at full international level. Getting a Mendy type is obviously what we want but why would we not want a player like this also. If the Mendy deal doesnt happen who would we rather have as our striker option for the season a Vipotnik / Stansfield type or Mayenda/Hemir, seems a f***ing ridiculously easy question to me.

We would want a player like this, as an addition to someone like Mendy, not as a sole option up top.

That's great and what I would want. But as a separate matter I would still choose a lad like this for our season over Mayenda.
Both he and Conway aren't ready to lead the line for an entire season just yet either, both came off the bench 12 times last season and neither started 30 games. They're not going to jump from that to starting 46 games, which is pretty much what we need if only one striker comes in.

Sinclair Armstong scored on his debut yesterday as well. There's 3 players yesterday who'd all been linked to the club.

All 3 would have cost around 3m together.

His stats are good on the face of it, but what’s his playstyle like?

Is he someone who presses the defence or holds it up?
