I’ve posted this story regarding my late husband before. He was totally disinterested other than knowing SAFC mattered a whole lot to me.
Any how one night we were sitting watching the local news and Carol Malia was interviewing a chap who looked exactly like Hand of God.
He looked over at me and I thought, by golly he’s got it, then confidently turned to me and said “doesn’t he look just like
Pele”

Unreal. Good to see a Seaham lad get his plaudits.
Similarly, i’ve always said we should have many more of these. Without it’s club Sunderland would be an incredibly different city, and there’s no reason not to pay homage to it.
That ‘til the end one is amazing. Even if it does make me a little body conscious.

On a related note, did I read somewhere that Sir Bob trademarked “Sunderland Red” as a colour, and all home shirts thereforth had to be Sunderland Red? Or a meringue?

As I left the Stadium I rang my wife( who doesn’t get footy at all )
“How did they do ?“ she asked-trying to show interest
“We got thumped 3-0 I said”
“ oh Well at least you were in the happy end !”
