Your season

I think you guys have had a great season. Avoided the first season relegation comfortably.

I think you will finish 11th 12th which is fantastic for your first season.

What were you hoping for at the start of the season?
To avoid relegation.

To not be embarrassed - I expected a season a bit like you had where we had the odd decent result but wouldn’t be good enough.

When coming out of Wembley I remember speaking to my dad and saying I wouldnt be against us signing Chris Mepham to add a bit of Premier League experience to our side.

I was hoping we'd just out up a fight and not embarrass ourselves as I thought the gap was too big for a non parachute side.

Not really sure how? We'll be starting the summer transfer window in a far better position than last summer for a start.

I think it might be more to do with our style of play being sussed out and mitigated against, which begs the question as to whether Le Bris has a tactical Plan B and maybe even a Plan C. Personally I’m not convinced he has, the odd foray into different tactics has often led to us being beat and I’m not convinced of his ability to change it up during a game if required. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a new head coach in place next season if the club are genuine in their desire to challenge at the top end of the league.

Our pre season wasn't great. You're talking about after the season started if you're saying how we set up.

I was hopeful we were signing some crackers but I would have taken 17th prior to the season starting.

Mukiele didn't start until our 3rd game, I assume because he only signed then.

No I’m not. I was basing it on how we were set up last season

Straight after the play off final I expected 20th place and hoped for "not humiliated".

After the business we did (and especially the type of players we were buying showing there was a real plan in place) I hoped for something a bit better than just surviving.

However given the gulf we had to cross and the fact that our signings were still gambles a battle for survival wouldn't have been surprising at all and I'd have snapped your hand off for a "final day 17th place".

Fantastic doesn't come close mate - at times the season has been closer to fantasy / hallucination football.

With 9 new players this season?
True, but Sadiki and Roefs have been two gems for the money we paid. Arguably we ended up with Roefs because we missed out on other targets as well.
I loved the Sadiki deal. We signed Diarra and Leeds were a bit miffed but said oh well Sadiki is better anyway. We signed him a couple of days later 😂

The last year, since the first leg of the play off semis at Coventry has been absolutely fantastic. After the joy of Wembley subsided, a very realistic possibility of relegation was the likely future. But over the summer the needle of hope moved a bit with around 14 new players arriving and a few with very good pedigree. Even so nobody expected it to be anywhere near is good as it has been.

When Tommy Watson scored the winner in the final and it sunk in that we were going to be in the Premier League next season and going to be playing teams like Fulham, Aston Villa and Everton I was naturally in a living dream. Eight long years of pain was over. We’d clawed our way back up to the Premier League. It especially sunk in on the way back home.

But I think I was so caught up in the winning of the money I forgot to think about what to spend it on! Lol

Aspirations were far from considered. I guess I just wanted us to win some games and perform well.
