Objectively Should This Team Be Doing Better

I reckon 7 of those tonight will get enquiries/offers from Champions League teams in the Summer.

Two only won’t because of their age but Xhaka and Reineldo have the quality.

I think you've over egged it.

Roefs probably will. Because of his age, profile and a lack of depth in that position. That's it for me.

Brobbey has 6 goals all season. He's not a Champions League player yet.

Sadiki is a mid-table player today and that's not a criticism. He's 21 and playing at an incredible level.

Mukiele has been at the Champions League clubs and couldn't get a game consistently.

Ballard isn't good enough with the ball at his feet or fast enough to interest the biggest teams.

I've named 5, not sure what others you were counting as Champions League calibre.
Why have we tried to be more attacking? Is the coach under pressure from above?

To be very successful in okayer trading you generally need to play good football.

No idea. Maybe it was always the objective. Get to safety and then look towards how we grow from here.

Objectively? No. You are doing better than both other promoted sides this season and batter than most promoted sides in general.

But that’s exactly the issue we are being compared with newly promoted clubs which isn’t a good measure to assess a team.

Alternatively you could say we could easily lose 6/7 of our starters to strong champions league teams in the summer - Roefs, Mukiele, Ballard, Sadiki, Le Fee and Brobbey. Arguably Aldrete but he is a bit unpredictable.

We also have a couple of champions league quality but older in Xhaka and Reineldo.

That’s before some of the others who have ability.

If you can field a team of 8/9 who have played for or are wanted by champions league teams why would your benchmark be avoiding relegation?
basic fact, cant argue. the season is a success by any real standard.

It is if you assess us as a newly promoted club.

If you look at the players we actually have on the pitch and where they could be playing next season I’d argue their expectations will be far far higher individually if and when they move on. So why would we have lesser expectations of them as a group here.

Perhaps. Le Bris isnt that safe. But regarldess, unexpected promotion and a very safe premier league finish is a result.

Should it?

It's a bunch of "kids" (whether young in age or premier league experience) alongside Xhaka, Mukiele, and Reinildo.

Got to take the rough with the smooth.

Lose our players to champions league sides? It's a miracle we've survived man. A kid in goal, a right back who cost us next to nowt, two or three bairns in midfield. a gaggle of young lads as our creative wide men, a new lad and Wilson up top in the most competitive division in world football. I'm still finding it difficult to believe we've managed to avoid the drop. Heroes the lot of them so it's a well done all round from me.

Spot-on. Sadiki looked lower league today against their midfield and I think he’s class. Dreadful tonight mind and definitely his worst game for us.
